Circumnavigating NYS
Last week we rode around the perimeter of New York State. Heading east to almost Vermont and then north to Champlain on Monday. We turned west and rode to Buffalo and then rode the southern route to Long Island. On Long Island we made it to the northern point before heading North on Friday, our final day for home. We camped along the way. Took a boat tour in the Thousand Island and to the Bolt Castle.
12 stops for fuel and clocked 1,697 miles, used 36.119 gal of gas for an average of 47 mpg. That's not bad mpg for almost all secondary roads at a good clip and sitting in traffic in NYC.

In Buffalo I almost got rear-ended several times. What's with those people????
In New York City, well ...they drive crazy and each of us had several real close calls. That's not the place to be riding. We took the ferry out to Bridgeport, CT instead.
