Battle Ground, Indiana, USA
I was searching for a nice destination for a longish (130 mile or so) ride from our house in the far, far South suburbs of Chicago. I came upon this article from Wikipedia about Battle Ground, Indiana.
The short version is this is the site where William Henry Harrison, later the President of the United States, led an military expedition against the 'indian uprising' being led by Tecumseh, and his brother Prophet.
There is now a state park near the place where the battle, known as the 'Battle of Tippecanoe', happened, along with the places Prophet addressed his men and gathered them for battle. For those that remember their history classes, this was the origin of the campaign slogan, "Tippecanoe and Tyler too!" that Harrison used while winning election.
Nice roads through the Indiana country and perfect weather got me to Prophet's Rock:

And then about three more minutes of riding got me to the actual museum and memorial site:

I didn't remember to bring a camera, so just got snaps with the phone-sorry.
All in all, a pleasant enough destination for a nice ride; certainly not the most exciting park/museum I've been to, but quaint and picturesque, and tied nicely to our American history.

I'd always thought Tecumseh was the fellow who helped find those two explorers who got lost looking for the Northwest passage, Briggs and Stratton.

History is NOT my strong point!
