LOL, don't assume the US doesn't have its own fair share of road racing just because Nascar dominates US-based motorsports at the moment. You can do a Google search if you really want info, but there are plenty of hill climbs and road racing events in the US as well. The only one that really sticks out in my mind right now would be Pike's Peak, but they're around if you're willing to find 'em.

hey, i wasn't assuming anything, bike racing traverses the world, and amongst that is road racing, all i was wondering was what others had?
searching US road racing doesn't bring up what i expected, so thought easier to ask.

Didn't feel like copying over all the pictures, but they plan on finishing the rest of the course with asphalt.

I know there are plenty within just 2 hours of me as I've had friends who were into road racing a few years back, it's just something I haven't really looked into.

There are many great road-racing circuits here, such as Sears Point, Laguna Seca, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta, and so on. I personally like the new-ish track in Utah called Miller motorsports park. It's basically flat, but a nice track. Portland Int'l Raceway isn't very glamorous, either, but it was always fun to go to the races there.

Seattle International raceway was a beautiful track, too, but I don't honestly know whether they still run road races on it, or if they just use the front straight for drag racing now. Vancouver, B.C., Canada had a wonderful track when I was a kid, but it's been bulldozed long since, and there are apartments and other housing there now.

no your not quite getting it,
real road racing is about racing on the highway (roads)
through towns and cities, villages and mountain roads.
roads that are normally used everyday as public highway.
not tracks and built circuits,

"true" road racing does happen here in the US, however on a much more limited scale (ex: check out the Silver State Classic: Homepage Main Menu: Flat Out On A Public Highway! (home.htm))

The reason there isn't more "true" road racing has a lot to do with liability and the condition of the roads. It is much safer all around to run fast on a purpose built road track that is clean, well maintained, has facilities, etc. than to go blasting around on public roads.
