Default From the waist down protection! (questions/opinions needed)

So I've been looking into a few options on what to use for protection below the waist. I think I have the boots figured out, but really I'm looking for what I should be wearing for pants.

I REALLY do not want to do leather pants, a big PITA to put on and off for short trips and the like plus they're hot.

My options now are...

Alpinestars Axiom/Logic denim/kevlar pants :
Logic Denim Pants | Alpinestars

Logic Denim Pants | Alpinestars

The problem is, I would want more than one or two pairs...so it would be pretty expensive to use these. The pants would be paired with...

Reflex Knee Guard | Alpinestars

For a bit of protection

VERSUS
Regular old jeans with...

Bionic Freeride Short | Alpinestars
and...
Reflex Knee Guard | Alpinestars

The way I see it, between the shorts thigh pads, the knee pads, and the boots it should keeps all my large contact areas from getting road rashed if I went down.

Which would be better?

Thanks!

Don't forget chaps. They'll go on over anything and are easy to take on/off.
Offer excellent protection. Are inexpensive to buy and maintain.

The knee guards are more for impact protection while ON the bike. If you're
sliding along pavement and they grab, they'll probably roll around your leg. Thus
exposing you to rash, the #1 and most dangerous injury. A serious road-rash is
basically 3rd degree burns over the affected area.

If you're serious (and you should be), your choice is chaps or leather/textile pants.
Anything else, and you're fooling yourself about the level of protection.

knee guards and textile overpants?

get textile/mesh for summer, and straight textile for colder days?

I have fallen on my *** to many times to consider denim any good for protection.

Having recently taken a tumble courtesy of an inattentive driver I think I can speak with some knowledge.

Kevlar jeans are fine to run down to the shop and back and will take low speed falls.
(Normal jeans are completely useless ! ) - and it's hard to get the fibres out of the road rash if you do go down.
LEATHER FOR EVERYTHING ELSE.
Kevlar jeans are hot to wear (they don't breathe very well)
On a sports bike I wear leather jeans on any trip more than "to the shops"
They aren't any hotter than normal jeans - the hide keeps the heat off, and riding in temps up to 45 C+ with 90% + humidity it's important.

I'd rather sweat than bleed.

But each to his own.........

imo.. wearing the knee protection and such under denim would make .0001% difference.. denim is paper in a spill. grab some leather or chaps if youre anticipating some wrestling with ground

There are two kinds of riders -
Those who have been down , and those who are going down, Classic.
And just for the record I was hit from behind - but you knew that didn't you.

Well I am not too worried about overheating, most summer days here are 70-80 degrees, the other days I would only really be riding my bike to and from work, a 30 minute excursion one way at most and all under 60MPH. I don't know if it will be any different on a bike...but as a driver I generally cruise around 65-70 MPH on a 65 highway. I don't really speed around...but who knows...the bike might change that (hopefully not).

I don't plan on ripping around town either, I'm that guy that everybody get's stuck behind going the speed limit through towns.

Anyways, wearing leather pants is not really an option because of time and if I'm just riding 20 minutes down the road...why spend 15 minutes to get dressed/undressed, I might as well take my car at that point.

In my area (an hour from any highways) the speed limit get's up to 55 maximum and it's generally 40-50. So my question is now...

Would wearing draggin liners, and the knee pads be ample protection at crashes under 60MPH?

I do have an A* full leather jacket, and plan on getting a new Shoei helmet soon as well as leather gloves and riding boots, I'm just looking to get an effective yet simple set of bottom protection, and I really don't like chaps, IMO they look silly...and they're all black and...I just don't want to go there, I would rather get full leather pants than chaps.

Thanks.
