Default Shoei

Just got my RF 1000 today and put about 80 miles on with it.........kick *** lid. Worth every penny. Vents awsome, soooo comfy on the face, and way lighter than my AGV!! Graphics are nicely done. I would recommend one of these to anyone looking for a good helmet. Got mine with tinted visor shipped for $405!

h dude, shoei is the **** in my opinon, i have the xr1000 and love it. i've tried others and have never been so comfortable or confident in the quality of my lid. i had an arai and thought it was the best until i put the shoei on. absolutely perfect lid, i swear by it and for that reason, i'll never wear another brand again.

of course, thats just my opinion, i'm sure there are plenty of great lids around

i had an rf1000. it was pretty nice. lasted me 2 years. what is the most important thing is fit. you can think shoei, arai, shark, agv, suomy, or whatever helmets are the best but make sure they fit YOUR head good. i highsided and landed on my head. it fit me okay but i knew the x11 fit me a little better but i couldn't afford it. the helmet protected my head when i went down and i didn't get a concussion but i did have this nasty mark on my head from it rubbing on my skin. i'm sure if i had an x11 it wouldn't have done that to me. but the good thing is that my head was still protected. but when looking for new helmets i made sure that they fit my head good. that was a lesson learned.

I too have the RF1000, and fortunately, I haven't tested its crash worthiness yet....(knocking on all wooden objects); +100 on the fit; I chose shoei because its the only brand i have owned for the last 15 years....but each company, and more so, each model of helmet fits different....and a poorly fit helmet is a dangerous proposition....as much as most of us probably look at the helmet appearance first, the find a size that fits, it would be better to find the brand/size that fits your head, then worry about if it matches your scoot. For my money, the shoei rf1000 and/or the x11 not only fit my fat head good, but also flow better than any other brand i have tried.

+1 AZ1000rr

I made the mistake of chosing my lid on appearance first. Bought and ICON Alliance and even got it on clearance. The silver and black matched my bike very well. The fit is good however the face shield flips up when when I do a head check anytime over ~60. (No good situation)
Goin shoppin for a new brain bucket.

M2005 Shoei .
I got this recently and am unhappy with the noise. I where ear pluggs to. I was looking for a Rf1000 but got impatient. I found this bucket with cool graffiks great fit great vents and shoei quality visibility . But unless you have your head straight up the wind noise the vents generate is AWFULL!!l. I tried to take it back! No Way! So I am back in the market for the RF 1000 . Can anyone tell me if the 1000 has this trait?

Thanks Steve

I'll second the RF1000. It's got top notch ventilation, quiet, lightweight, and I hope I never crash test it ! A good snug fit w/o being uncomfortable.

i haven't tried that helmet but most high end helmets are a little noisier because of the ventilation. sorry i can't compare it for you but i know the rf1000 wasn't the quietest helmet. i always wear ear plugs too so it's not that bad at all.

I have a X-Eleven Bostrom Rep.

It is worth every penny. Light, good aerodynamics, excellent venting. I can look over my shoulder at highway speeds without my head getting ripped off. I wear earplugs ALL THE TIME so I can't comment on noise. I am sure it's more noisy than less-vented alternatives. The X-Eleven keeps my head cool so it's a OK tradeoff for me.

There is also some confidence in the fact that you are trusting your melon to the top of the line.

I would like to get a Arai RX-7 Laguna rep, but I can't find anyone local who carries them. I am not about to buy one and hope it fits.
