Default Shift Dyer gloves

I was going to go for the Icon TiMax long but I tried them on today and they did not fit. I got small and fat hands and they were pretty tight on my hands and there was a lot of finger room left. Plus I didn't like howthey felt when grabbing the grips.
Then I tried my friend's Dyers and loved the fit, feel, and looks of it. Butthe question is: how protective are they? I'm a drummer and I'd like to keep my hands intact if/when I wreck.

If no good then what else would you suggest?

I'm not a drummer, but I try to play guitaaar... Hands are important and investing in a good glove... well can't put a price on that. If they fit great get em. All you need to look for is 100% leather and now days they have a carbon knuckle guard or titanium. Titanium will be more. Looks is secondary. I have Dainese short track gloves and love em. They are pricey for shortys but hands are everything.

I don't know about those gloves. But they need to fit (I like mine snug). I like leather vs. textile (for gloves), sometype of knuckle protection and palm reinforcement, and looks. If I see a glove with these criteria then I get it.

Thanks for the info. I'll take another look at my friend's gloves and decide. They definitely fit great though.

I personally think cowhide is the best material in critical areas--like the palm and knuckles. It may not be as supple as some other materials, but according to Motorcycle Consumer News, it is more abrasion resistant than a lot of other things.

Kangaroo skin I don't know much about, but I know the more expensive gloves use kangaroo skin.

I bought some Teknic Speedstars for track use, but I have not been to the track yet:

Most of the time I wear my Joe Rocket Reactors, in black:

Those Speedstars are nice.

I just picked up some Lightning at a local Yamaha dealership for $86 with tax.

Can't tell if I like them better than the Dyers because they're not broke in yet but I like the protection they offer and how they look.

Those are really nice too. I prefer long gloves though.
