I'm a Shoei guy and most of my friends are as well.

In my opnion, you get what you pay for. Plenty of us use Shoei, Arai, and other premiem level lids. They offer plenty more for the buck. Fit and finish is very important, however for the most part of retail helmets have been vertified and will do their best to protect your head. The bottom line, wearing is three quarters of a good decision. The rest is personal preference. Good luck.
