tonyB11,
we are the same way. we could spend 100 + on a great travel pack but not yet. We wanted to see what was most important to us. I liked the smaller size and extra security on the front and my husband went with more space.
anyways, we went with jansport pack that are designed for hiking. So far, so good. They have the extra security in the front and are fully adjustable. We spent may 30-40 apiece. if you catch them on sale at Galyan's or REI it could be less. Good Luck.

Hey i did the little back pack for a while. Sucks. I bought a pack think brand name is Edurance. Got it at a motorcycle shop. It has a whole back pad and fits riding position.. Very happy. 75.00 well spent. Not sure the back pad saves you but it fits great and built well. I think the name brand may be Cargo performance luggage. Endurance may b the model. Sweet for the $. When I first saw it I figured $125-150. Check it out.

About a month ago I got a Jansport Cliff Ridge for carrying my laptop and crap for work. It's pretty comfortable on my back, the straps are better than the targus I had. I ride to work every day and took two three hour trips with it on and didn't feel it messing with my back. Sports Authority had them on sale for $50.

I've got a eastsport back pack I purchased at wal-mart for 13.00 and it has done the job for me. It is made of nylon and is very tough and durable and did'nt dent my pocket. I also have a waist pack I put around my waist to conceal my glock 9mm and all my keys and junk, and it is very toughnylon with tough zipers and alot of pockets. I paid 5 bucks for that and even bought a spare bag. I've used it over a year and it is still as strong. I tell you what, last year I had an accident and hit a wild hog at 70 mph dead on and that waist bag servived better then my jacket as I slid, there tough. Johnny

I wouldn't spend more than $25 on a backpack. But that's me. I think anything more than that is overkill. I use a Jansport. Works well.

I have one from Kmart it was like 15 bucks and I ride almost everyday and I love it.
What you want to look for is good stiching or dbl stiching and it should hold up well. I have used a speed pack and they rock but very expencive.
