So I picked up a new lid from newenough.com last night. Saved $100 on the Icon Domain [gloss black] (got it for $260 @ NE--retails for $360 and up). I tried to do a little research on fitment on-line before I bought it but didn't find much. I wear a Medium (7 1/8 - 7/14--58cm) in HJC helmets, but when I bought a Scorpion helmet for my passenger, the medium was too small [I always buy a passenger helmet in my size, just in case I need a spare]. Ended up going with a large. I logged on and checked the Icon head/helmet measurement charts for Scorpion and [/color]ions.htm]Icon and found no difference, and I even triple checked it against the HJC chart, but they're all basically the same.

I ended up going to LA Cycle Sports and trying on a medium and large Icon Domain and the large fit perfectly. A little snug with the cheek pads [but I understand they mold to your face over time], but otherwise very light [compared to my HJC] and a good fit. Should look even coolor after I get it airbrushed

Thanks for the tip, it's this kind of information that makes the forums worth while. Would like to get a spare helmet, and maybe upgrade mine in the near future, and didn't realize they came much lighter than my HJC CL-SP.

Question, are "super helmets" really worth it?

For example, a mid grade HJC helmet is around 150$ the Icon is 250-350$ but Shoei/Arai are like 400-600$ I understand alot of biking is style and prestige, is there some functional or saftey benefit for doubling your price on a helmet?

Like I would spend in the mid range, like if the rang is 100-600$ 300$ is about the reasonable limit I'd go to... It's all basically doing the same thing, if you don't pay another 150$ for a paint job, what's the benefit of the high prices of some of these helmets, same deal with jackets/pants etc...
