Default new helmet

i just got a brand new Gmax helmet for $40 from a guy that never used it since he never got the bike that he was planing on getting. i was wondering if they are ok helmets. i hope if it is not the worst helmet you can own. i spend most of my money if not all or more on my bike and thats the only thing i can afford at this point. in the future my wife will use it when i take her for the rides.

so whats the opinion on this brand. is it ok for now???

not smell or ece approved...

ide ditch it... ill never spend less than 200 on a lid and that a cheap lid...

not dissing the brand ive heard great things about them but if they dont have the money to get their products approved by neither snell or ece.... im not going to trust my head to it

just my opinion

this is what i found on the helmet.

Lightweight Polycarbonate Shell
Quick change shield, no screws, no side covers
GMAX reduced noise design, specially designed cheek pads, neck curtain, optimal shield sealing and deluxe venting reduce unwanted noise
D.E.V.S. GMAX anti-fog system. "Dual Exhaust Venting System" side intake and exhaust vents draw heat and moisture away from the shield to help reduce fogging
Large eyeport opening for greater visibility
Removable, adjustable cheek pads for deluxe fitting
Removable, CoolMax lining with mesh trim channels moisture away from the skin
Padded chinstrap for added comfort
Deluxe ear pockets for better fit and speaker installation
Inner chin bar designed for easy microphone installation
Painted shell with high-tech water decals and high quality clear coat finish
GMax GM58S Helmet Full Face Helmets

Can't beat a DOT/Snell helmet for $40 no matter what brand it is. They all go through the same tests. I have the GMax GM68 (I think that's it). It was rated helmet of the year in 07 by webbikeworld. Does it have the red light on the back?

i have the 68s as well. are you worried it will not hold up in a crash? Just because it costs about 120 MSRP does not mean it is made of cardboard. The helmet comes with a free dark visor as well. I enjoy it's liner material and fit. Great helmet and as previously stated, it was once webbikeworld's helmet of the year.
