icon Timax-2?
Hi, i am a new owner.. well, very soon i will be. i was looking into jackets and helmets and i have pretty much decided on what i want to get... from ICON. i don't really know much about riding gear and i wanted to get some input on this one particular item.
the TiMax 2 Leather jacket.
http://www.rideicon.com/product_deta...61&id=6983
all the features about it really apeal to me, as i am a biginner i would like to have the best gear to start out with. when i go down, i want minimal injuries. this jacket having titanium panels andleather is something that makes me feel a lot more secure.
but is this too much? for $600 i can get a helmet-jacket-gloves-boots, maybe even pants, all of it being cheaper and less protective.
then of course comes the helmet, i found this: http://www.rideicon.com/product_deta...60&id=6932
i really love the disign and being SNELL approved, i would have a great sense of security.
these are the gloves i want to get too: http://www.rideicon.com/product_deta...64&id=7025
i don't mind the price of these, good protection and a stylish appearance.
so, that's it. is $600 for a jacket for my first time too much? i guess you can't really put a price on protection, when i go down i want to be able to stand back up with no damage, depending on the severity of the crash of course.
thanks

I have the Icon motorhead jacket, its half the price of that and I like it. Also have the Icon fusion helmet and I like it.
to me $600 is alot for a jacket, There are alot of nice jackets for under $400 you could get but Its really what you like. and try one on at a store before you actually buy one online, you dont wont to pay $600 for a jacket thats too small/big or that you just dont like the way it fits.
You might also want to look around alot of places sell gear for cheaper than the MSRP, newenough.com normally has good deals.

yea looks like good stuff but shopping around you can probably do alot better with the prices.... my only input is with the gloves, i like to have a gauntlet style glove that comes up the arm and over the jacket for a little more protection
i have these icon gloves....

seem to be comparably armored, though it has CF instead of titanium, longer glove and $25 less (i think i actually paid something like $85)
