Default Dual season jackets?

Just read the winter gear thread and all the others relating to jackets and such and still can't decide on a textile jacket.

Is there a decent jacket that can be used in the chilly months with a removable liner that will not kill you when the temps get warmer?

The ones I keep coming back to are the joe rocket meteor 5.0, atomic 2.0 and the nova jacket.

Anyone using any of these care to give some firsthand feed back?

If anyone has any other brands and models they like please feel free to share. The bad part is I am on a budget right now so money is going to determine what I get.

I have the Alter Ego Joe Rocket jacket.... it's great. It has a removable wind/water proof liner, mesh layer and textile out layer. You can remove the textile panels and open up the mesh for the summer or use all three layers and ride in cold weather. I'm using mine in the 20's.

I just got the (Red/Black)Honda-Line CBR Textile jacket from Joe-Rocket....Got it from Motorhelmets.com...they had 20% off MSRP for ALL JoeRocket jackets plus free shipping. It has a removable Insulated liner....I will use this one during cool months but will order the Honda-Line Mesh Jacket from JoeRocket for the Summer. The Mesh has a removable Windproof(UN-insulated) liner, so with the liner out, it is total freeflowing. Im not sure which regular JoeRocket Line these jackets are.

I paid $159 for the CBR textile(MSRP $199) and the Mesh will be approx $119(MSRP $150) if they have the same deal in a few months....Hopefully it will be on a closeout when the new stuff starts roling out and i can pick it up cheaper. If you are going to buyt he mesh and use it for winter riding, you are going to need a thermal/sweatshirt under the jacket/liner. The textile/liner only requires a regular shirt under it for my taste.

Before you order, go try them on....I tried on the Mesh and took a Medium, but the Textile required a large....Both have pockets/chases for audio. I also have the JoeRocket Supermoto Gloves.....The leather was to confining/stiff/and did not breath well enough for my taste.

Anyone find these jackets any cheaper anywhere?? I combed the net and this was the best i could find

If you are referring to me, right now its usually 20-35 in the morning and 40-60 in the afternoon.....but its typical NC weather where it can be 70-degr Monday afternoon and 25-degr with 6" of snow Tuesday morning......LOL...

The Mesh is definitly the way to go when it gets to the 80-90-degr summers around here..Even the textile without the liner will be pretty hot then.

Im getting ready to order the hard reinforced armor to replace the squishy stuff that came in it though along with some under-jeans knee armor

Any of you track-day guys ever heard about this about the plastic-reinforced armor?? I got this from JoeRocket saying they have discontinued their optional reinforced armor for the jackets. Looks like im stuck with the squishy stuff unless i can find someone with old stock of the speedmaster stuff

Hi Chad;

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the delay in responding.
Unfortunately we no longer offer plastic body armour. We don’t
recommend that plastic armour be used with textile products. The reason
being is that plastic armour tend to have sharp edges. In the event of
a crash the armour could potentially turn causing the sharp edge to cut
the skin or fabric and not offer adequate protection.

We have recently introduced the C.E. armour which I believe should
already be included in the jacket you purchase minus the C.E. rated
spine protector. The jacket comes equipped with a dual density spine
protector. To view the C.E. rated spine protector view the link below.

If you require further assistance don’t hesitate in contacting me.

Best regards,
