Default ¿ About Jackets ?

Ok so i'm looking for jackets. I'm looking at the online stuff so i can hopefully find it in the store to try on. What do you guys know about "CE Armour" pads ==> http://street-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi...html?E+scstore
http://street-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi...html?E+scstore
http://street-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi...html?E+scstore
http://street-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi...html?E+scstore

versus the "dual density" pads like this http://street-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi...html?E+scstore

I read that CE is an England standard like DOT over here. THey have some jackets with Removable CE pads. Do these removeable pads stay stationary when inserted into the jacket? This guy on sbn forum crashed and his pads in pants moved so his knee looks messed up.

I like the first few links that i posted. well the 2nd 1 looks kinda stupid with all the pockets out, unless i put my mace, war blade, stun gun, and .380 in them but i still kinda like it. I jsut cant tell how hot they will be. I'm in NC so as soon as i actually get some skill riding it'll be 80+ degree days daily. I think the 1st link is looks nice but it looks hot.

I was thinking about just getting Dainese armour and wearing plain clothes over it. I'm just unsure about how much it will puff out, would my shirts fit over it? http://www.go-ride.com/prod_armor_dainese.html

what do u guys think?

BTW the 'cheap' mesh joe rockets i tried on previously looked like they wouldnt help me very little in a crash.

Check out this link for some good places online to buy motorcycle jackets and other gear. https://cbrforum.com/m_452/tm.htm

It's a personal preference thats up to you as far as a jacket. CE armour is better. I have an Alpinestars textile jacket with the CE armour I wear most of the year and I have a Joe Rocket phoenix with the foam armour I wear on the 100+ degree days down here in FL. I feel alot more safe in the jacket with the CE armour though. Eventually I might upgrade the armour in the Joe Rocket to the CE. Try and find a shop close to you to try some gear on. Not all gear will fit the same.

I have heard great things about the Fieldsheer Mach 4 jacket. A buddy of mine crash tested a Mach 3 and it held up great.

the mach4 is actually the one I was leaning toward the most. I just hope this shop i'm going to tomrrow will have some. The kawa shop i was in the other day only had joe rocket and 1 other so i reallly only got to try 2 different style of jackets. I'm going to go pick up one of those scorpion helmets tomrrow. I was sitting on my bke today, started that bitch up.... took all of my will power not to put it in 1st and take a ride.

I ride with a Tecknic Kevltec Interstate jacket during the early spring through fall. It has shoulders, elbow/forearm, and back armor with a removeable inner liner for those cold mornings. Plus it's waterproof.

Note: They come in different color combos to match your bike.

The Tecknic runs about $175.

For those winter or rain soaked rides in the spring/summer/fall. I use my Aerostich Roadcrafter suit. Same body armor but full insulation and water proof.

The Aerostich will spank you for $750.

I ended up ordering that Jacket. All the stores i went to around Raleigh basically had the same stock. I actually was about to buy a joe rocket Alter Ego from the Kawasaki of durham but like u said before, they have ****ty ****TY customer service. I walked in wearing dress shoes, pants, shirt... I walk in 2 employess were talkn to 1 customer or friend. One guy looks at me, then looks me up and down. He didnt say hello, how can i help you, if u need help yell... he said nothing and i walked by to look at the gear. I wanted the coat and the Scorpion helmet they had but i'd be damned if i was going to give them my money. Ended up going to honda by the Town Center and ordering my helmet. They guy there was suppa cool and helpful, so instead of buying the helmet online i bought it from him.

BTW Delmustrator, about that 1 piece suit. I dont think i could do it. I'd be too worried about not looking 'cool'. As sad as that may sound its true. I'm still looking for some good armour jean pants. I may just buy some knee and ankle pads to put under my everyday jeans.

Look into the draggin jeans. I have a pair of their cargo jeans and I love them. I also have some Icom leg armor that I wear under them for alittle extra protection. I have nothing but great things to say about their jeans.

Sorry about those guys at Kawi of Durham. I told you they were crappy to deal with. When they do talk to you, it's like they are doing you a favor. Team PowerSports in Garner has the same attitude. I'm not too thrilled with Matison Motorsports on Durant Rd. either. The Honda shop that you went to was terrible when they first opened but they are cool now. They changed management a couple years ago.

As for the jackets, I bought the Technic's jacket because the AeroStich is too heavy for summer riding. It's made to keep you warm and dry on those late fall/early winter rides when your guarenteed to get soaking wet and freeze your footpegs off. I just posted it to give you an idea of what is available. As for looking cool, it can be color matched to your bike as well. I like the AeroStich suit and I think it is actually more confortable than leathers and is more flexible.

Has anyone used the new Alpinestars ICE jackets? I'm looking into these. I'm told that they are not as tight/fitted as the TZ-1 jackets. I want something I can walk around in without ackwardness or discomfort. Should I go with the ICE jacket? Thanks.
