80mph street lowside review, 5 months later.
street is not a race track....
Just bit the bullet and sold my soul to Honda and the bank for the next 3 years.
Have not been on a bike in 6 months, since I now have a new one figured I could finally review my gear and crash.
Was wearing
AGVsport leather perf jacket
AGVsport Solare mesh pants
Icon superDuty 4 boots
Held air stream gloves
Scorpion exo1000 helmet

If you stare really close at my *** you can see the only road rash I received. Wear full gear people. Mesh does not protect from rash and you flatten/ contort when you wreck and slide.

The hole

Hip wear

The seat.
Damage assessment:
-for all intents an purposes mesh disintegrated and burned through on impact.
-double layer textile in seat literally saved my ***
-foam hip padding kept the pants from riding up and exposing more of me.

Knee shot.
-Pad protected me from initial impact, stayed in its pocket while I slid, no rash/bruising
-One layer of textile burned through,
-when I hopped up first step I took the knee pad fell out, if I had tumbled, I am not so sure the ‘pad pocket’ would have held the pad in, however a couple of strip of Velcro could have just ripped off too.
-I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MESH GEAR, HOWEVER IF I WANTED MESH I WOULD GET ANOTHER PAIR.

Jacket held up very well, will be used next summer. One hole where the shoulder armor poked out some. Was not zippered to my pants, I think a combination of a slim overtight fit and the back pad kept the back from riding up. Lesson, use the zipper and if it does not fit get it stitched on. Not sure how I had rash on the top center of both shoulders, probably why my neck is so stiff.

Boots did fine some superficial damage, still using. Some scuffing to sole by toes, the metal on the latch prevented the plastic from breaking/getting ground down, not sure how long the plastic latch will last. Cloth on the top is frayed.

All the above shots are from the LEFT glove which has visible damage, even though I lowsided on the RIGHT. I can barely tell any difference, will be used again next summer. Freaking love these summer gloves.

Ehh its just a few surface scrapes. Yeahh uh no. I should probably cut the strap out so nobody tries to use it. Did a real good job of protecting my head.

did not have a speedo. entered corner roughly 8k in 3rd, accelerated in turn. felt bike getting fishy, tried to shift weight, front end washed out and lowsided. knee hit ground, arm hit, slid on back bike went on without me.
Nice to see you didn't get hurt too bad. I wear mesh when I commute but full leathers when I go out on day rides. Also use a back/chest protector. I really need to get some perforated leathers for the summer months.
Great post really help answer a lot of my questions about lower body protection. It always seems like a lot of attention is paid to Jackets Gloves and Helmet and not enough is attention is paid to lower body protection. Thanks for sharing.
