another update:

bike is running great. got my exhaust on today (thanks will!). its louder than stock for sure, but not as much as i thought it would be. the problem is that the center stand used to rest on the old collector so it wouldnt go up any higher. with the new V&H exhaust it goes up higher and rubs my chain. no biggie, just need to make a little adjustment or extra bracket for it to rest on instead of rubbing the chain.

the parts i ordered are still not here, so i cant do much until then. i need to find a wideband and start playing with jet sizes to make sure im running at the right A/F ratio. ill get more pictures up when i finish painting everything. wanted to buy a heat gun this weekend to help me take the remainder of the decals off easier. they wanted $70 for one, **** that noise. ill borrow it from my uncle for the price of free. until then, it sits more.

new sprocket is on, front pegs are on, and the rest of the bike is prepped for paint. hopefully if i play my cards right ill be done painting this weekend and be able to reassemble sometime next week.

i also ordered a bi-xenon HID kit today, 6000K. that should go great with the rest of the bike. pictures to come soon!

Couple of ideas for ya. I actually learned this one on this site. On the decals, dont buy a heat gun, grab a hairdryer set it to high. Spray with WD-40 and they peel off no problem. I brilloed one of mine before I had the good sense to ask this forum.
Second, using a wire on the jets? the are brass and exact sizes. I have taken my carbs apart(leave on the bar, just off the bike and spray carb cleaner through each jet.WEAR SAFETY GOOGLES. it comes back atcha on some of them. You should see the spray exit from each jet somewhere .Never a wire in the jets though. That can scratch the hole(insert joke) and effectively change the size of the jets.
My two cents and good luck with the project. Interested in the cmpleted paint scheme.

the bike is about 90% painted, but the last time i was working on it i ran out of paint. i need to pick up another can of flat black to finish off the last panel.

i am still waiting on the chain to come in the mail. RK backordered the master link i want so i have to wait on that to come in. the anodized pegs are on the bike and the HID kit is installed. i may take some pictures tonight with the front end on the bike and the HIDs on to see how they look.

a wideband i ordered is in the mail, so ill have to take the exhaust off, get the bung welded in, and mount it all on the bike. i am hoping this will help me GREATLY with tuning instead of doing 100s of plug checks and jet changes to get it where i want it.

ill keep ya posted!

and the HIDs, ill copy this part to the headlights thread as well. all of these pictures are in my garage, the wall was at a distance of 15 ft.

lows:

highs:

the HIDs are a telescopic type, so they highs just move the filament to a different position. it's kind of funny to hear them click into place when you turn them on and off, but i'll deal with it since im sure they are much brighter than the stock bulbs. once the bike is running and on the street ill take some pictures out on the road. pushing it onto the road and then back into my garage is too much work for me right now.
