Cool 93 CBR 1000F Black/Gray/Red

This is more or less how I bought it, except for the muffler paint and grips and tires:

Go to the end of the thread to see the new seat and wheel striping. So Cool.

I rode cruisers (except for a Magna which is only part cruiser) all my life. I needed an "extra" bike so I could ride with my son when he visited from college. I decided to buy something cheap rather than rent. I found a low mileage 1990 CBR 1000F (red, white and blue) and bought it as soon as I heard it's exhaust (a former Honda mechanic owned it and except for dropping it on both sides, it was perfect). My son liked it so much he took it (and made me sell his bike). So I had to buy this 93 (which was in even better shape). He and I fell in love with the capability and comfort of these bikes. We always fight over getting to ride the CBR instead of my cruiser (which isn't junk at all). So now you may see a fat old guy on a sportbike.

My son painted the muffler black (did a nice job) and the previous owner did the red paint on the brakes. Since the picture I put a new black leather Corbin seat on it, which is fantastic.

Gratz on an awesome find! I bought a '93 yesterday and love it. I lived in Houston on the late 70's. Harwin/Bellaire/Ranchester area. Had a very large time and left town while I could.

Wow, Joe.... that looks sharp!

One of the first things I noticed was the black can. He did a great job painting it...

Welcome to the CBR Forum!

When he was about 12 (8 years ago) he became a "detail man" painting "Warhammer" figures. After we cleaned it up really well, he masked the can perfectly with an exacto-knife and we put a semi-gloss heat resistent spray paint on it. When we removed the tape, we were wowed.

When I first got on it, I felt a little out of my element. "Fat man in a little coat." I always figured "Closed Body Racers" were for kids. But I have certainly warmed up to the idea now, and I figure everyone who thinks I'm too old to be on the CBR when they see me are just as ignorant like I was. So now I'm preach'n the gospel.

The only current sport bike out that that feels as comfortable to sit on (haven't ridden one) is the ZX-14. The rest of them feel like you are belly down on your surf board heading out to sea.

That seat was less that $300. Heck, the last couple of seats I bought were about twice that, so I was amazed that this giant leather seat (with gel in it no less) was such a bargain. I got it because our first CBR came with one, and it was so comfortable. The stock seat cramped my "boys" in short order.
