CHATTERBOX
I have a GMRS 5 mile version chatterbox and love it....have stereo speakers installed in my Quantum/f arai and dont give a damn about the law.....first off dont give a cop a reason to inspect your helmet that close, hell last time i got pulled over i never even took it off. Secondly whos to say you were using it while driving on the roadway, helmets have lots of purposes..not all of them for use on public roadways. Headphones are illegal....are ear plugs? Ironic isnt it, who comes up with this crap?
That sucks about you guys not getting to use headsets in your states. We have laws about both hands on the bars, as I found out the hard way trying to tell somebody that I was riding when I didn't have my cell (got let go, but it still sucked). I am glad to hear that the 5-mile version works so good, because I was just about to buy some 2-mile units later this afternoon.
CHATTERBOX 2 MILE version is on sale for $230 and the 5 mile version is on sale $275, CA residents add 7.25% sales tax and shipping is determined by your zipcode. Out of state sales have no tax...

I bought 2 of the X1 systems and love them. We have tested them as far away as 7 miles on a fairly obstructed highway and still managed to come in very clear. Also its cool that I can plug my MP3 player and my cell phone into it. The MP3 player sounds awesome through the head phones, only problem I have now is Metallica seems to make me ride a little faster than I am supposed to.....HeHe ............Highly recommend them if your ride with a buddy that will get one...........WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
I don't think you'd get hastled for a chatterbox in respects to communication... but if you were fumbling to turn down your ipod when he walks up or take off your helmet with music playing your toast... I don't care what state your in. That's good info on the 2 and 5 mile versions... I used my dad's 2 sets, but only to talk to the passenger.... if that's all you're going to do there are even cheaper options. They are only as good as the # of riders who will buy them... right? Music is only secondary playing through them, no? No real advantage there?
