I HAD ONE ON MY BIKE FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS, AND I KNOW PPL THAT TELL ME THE VALENTINE, AND ESCORTS ARE GREAT BUT WHO WANTS TO SPEND 200 BUCKS ON IT UNLES U HAVE IT TO. BUT I HAVE A COBRA I HAD A 6 BAND WHICH HAS ALL THE BASIC BANDS AND A COUPLE EXTRA BUT THAT WORKED FOR ME WELL. I HAVE GOTTEN A TICKET THOUGH, GUNS WONT SET THEM OFF UNLESS SOMEONE OR U IS GETTING CLOCKED WHICH IS TO LATE, THAT HOW THEY GOT ME, AND ONE TIME WHEN I STOOD A WHEELIE AND I WASNT WATCHING IT AND I COULDNT HEAR IT, MY MOTOR WAS AT 11000RPM. BUT FOR THE MOST PART COPS STILL USE BASIC RADAR, MAYBE NOT THE BIGGER CITYS BUT MOSTLY. I PAID 50 BUCKS FOR THE ONE I MENTIONED BUT I RECENTLY GOT A 10 BAND COBRA IN CASE A COUPLE OF THE LOCAL COP CARS HAVE BETTER EQUIPMENT. BECAUSE HERE IN INDIANA MOST THE COPS HAVE A RADAR THATS CONSTANTLY CLOCKING BUT THEY CAN TURN IT ON AND OFF. THERES 3 CARS HERE THAT HAVE THE GUN, WHICH IS HARD TO AVOID BECAUSE ITS NOT ON CONSTANTLY. AND FOR THE INSTALL I DIDNT CUT ANY WIRE ON THE PLUG, I JUST USED THE SUCTION CUPS IT HELD IT ON PRETTY WELL BEINGS MY SCREEN WAS PAINTED WITH A SPRAY CAN . I COULD TAKE IT FROM CAR TO BIKE I BOUGHT AN EXTRA PLUG. AND WHEN I PARKED I JUST PUT IT IN MY POCKET.. HOPE THAT HELPS
LET ME KNOW IF U HAVE Q'S
ROB

how well are you able to see them flashing? i have head phones in when i ride (mp3 player) and i've been looking at the escort 8500 but i'm not sure if i would be able to see it. and spending 170$ on a blinking light that conects to your helmet is ridiculous.

I've got the V1 and wouldn't even concider any other detector. Love the arrows! Pricey ($399), but you get what you pay for. Fully upgradable. This detector will never be obsolete. Havn't tried it on the bike though. It stays in the corvette all summer. Really should get another one, but my wife almost killed me when she found out what I paid for the first one.

In the Car - Passport 8500 has been the savior for nearly 3 years now with no tickets - wood knock right now!!! Just gotta know that in terrain with hills you can accelerate down the hill, but go only 5-9 over the limit at the top where the "snap shot" officers sit just over the other side. I'll do 100 easy down, but its off the pedal on the way up the otherside... I have about a 2 mile and/or 90 second prior catch until passing the radar doing 80ish plus. Good lead time, but the laser is a bit loud with no trivial warning. I'm thinking about the SOLO version Passport sells, but someone already said ride outside the city areas and you're OK for the most part which is much better than 50/50 shot for me so far...

Poor detectors (Cheap) just let you know WHEN YOU'RE GETTING A TICKET![:@]

As to where you asked about ones to put in your helmet, the "heads up" display that tells you your speed gear etc. also detects radar and notifies you.

i would run the ecort solo 2. http://www.escortradar.com/solo.htm it has the same performance as the escort 8500. it is cordless so you use it for the bike and car. Or you get the 8500 X50 and hard wire it to the fuse box. i do it in my car and never have problems i run it to the radio fuse. on a bike maybe use the light fuse that way when the lights are on it is on. i would go cordless

radar roy radarbusters.com says its the best cordless out there. however i thought this one was pretty neat BEL 946 http://www.radarbusters.com/products/beltronics/946.asp it rates a 4 out of 5... anyway its cool because it has a speaker you can put in your helmet, which is nice if you listen to music when you ride.

anyone try this out?
