seems like you could hard wire it throught the fuse box[sm=smiley24.gif]? But you'd have to either hide it or take it off if you got off the bike in public cuz if people will break a window out of a car for one they sure as hell will grab one off a bike.

Ya, i would definitely take it off in public. It would be nice to get one for my car that i could use on my bike as well but i dunno. I've heard of ones that go in your helmet, does anyone know about that?

Hi,

I've used a Valentine V1 for the last few years. I went w/ the V1 after seeing how well my friend's worked for him (us).

I'd say my V1 has saved me from at least 4 or 5 tickets...And this is in very twisty roads above L.A.

Here's a link to Car & Driver's radar detector test in 2002 http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=1

A couple of neat things about Valentine...their units are 'upgradeable'...I just sent mine in for the POP upgrade. The V1 also has directional arrows (front, back, left, right) to show you where the radar signal is coming from...this is a great & useful feature.

BTW**You'll need to buy the ear piece adaptor as well ($50)**

I've also heard bad things about the 'cordless' types not picking up as well.

There are several options for mounting these units...directly to the windshiled is the way I went (the unit simply unhooks from it's bracket to remove it from the bike), but there are also different brackets made for mounting. Checkout 'radarbusters.com'

My friend installed mine...hard wired directly to the battery.

Good luck,

RF

My 2 cents......Radar detectors on a bike are worthless. If you're gonna travel longer distances, buy a chatterbox to listen in on the trucker talk. Truckers always point out where troopers/cops are sitting plus they are entertaining. If you're worried about 10-15 over the speed limit I wouldn't worry about the radar detector. If you're gonna speed, speed in the right places and when it will actually make a difference in how long it takes for you to ride from point A to point B, ie trips longer than 2 hours.

I have a Passport 8500 by escort. This thing has paid for itself many times over. While pricey I dont mind, I do not enjoy being pulled over. As far as being able to hear it, I will be either building my own design of this product or purchasing one http://www.radarbusters.com/products...cyles/hard.asp No wires to be tied to the bike. I cant stand pulling up to a gas station or somewhere and having to unplug things to get off the bike, most annoying. As a side note, ive found that a stemstand mount works the best for me so far. And I DO ride long distances, often in excess of 2 hours...and its not that I enjoy breaking the law, its that I enjoy riding at a safe and prudent pace for conditions...and lets face it, we ride bikes built for speed
