Wheelie help
I just got the 1krr bout a month ago now for my first bike and feel comfortable as hell on it. Alot more than i did on the R6 i learned to ride on. The thing is i wanna learn to do a wheelie without wreckin my bike. I can feel the front wheel wantin to come up all the time just dont know how to. Only had it up about a foot or so then it sits back down. Any suggestions on how i can get it higher?
You're ****ting me right? Your "first bike" a 1000RR for one thing and now you wanna do wheelies already? Simple, pin the throttle open in 1st gear and you'll do a wheelie. Is it really worth wrecking your nice new bike to do a wheelie? They take alot of practice to do right, my suggestion would be to use or borrow a dirt bike and learn that way. Wheelies are hard on any bike, but yeah, they're fun. Like i said, pin it open in 1st gear and she'll climb like a bitch. Just be careful.
Hey dizzie, g-eater is right. You need to practice on a dirt bike just so you can see what it will feel like when the front tire is in the air. Your street bike will still pull it up very easy and probably much different than any dirt bike that you would find to practice on, unless you can find a CR 500 that somebody will let you toy with (not gonna happen).
You must be full of all kinds of crazy! You must not be really wrenching that throttle cause if your were it would come up faster than you would like it to. Get going to about 5000-6000 rpm and hit the throttle real fast (not full, almost, play around with this) and hold on cause here it comes. Make sure you are ready to tap the rear brake, but only if you are about to loop. If it is too high for your comfort ease off the gas. Just remember that you can damage the front suspension if it comes down repeatedly too hard or even one good blow could do it. Take it easy, and remember that these are big bikes and by the time the wheel is off the ground you will probably be doing 50-60 mph.
Oh yeah, you are the one that is choosing to do it, be carefull and accept full responsibility.

thanks guys. im not that crazy just feel comfortable as hell on the bike and wanna do something else now besides go like a bat out of hell. ive tried gunnin the throttle like u said but still havin a lil trouble getting it higher. do i have to sit farther back in the seat or somethin?
LOL. Seriously, get rolling in 1st gear. Excellerate briskly, at maybe 5 grand, go WIDE OPEN and hang on. I would guess you are letting off the gas and dont even know it when it starts to come up. You will crash your bike, there is no doubt in my mind. If you do enough of them, it's gonna happen. That bike makes more than enough power to climb in 1st gear no matter how you sit on the bike. I can lean forward all the way tucked in, and mine climbs like hell and all I have is a measly 900RR. You are letting off or not getting wide open to begin with. If you still cant get it, roll at about 6500 rpm in FIRST gear, close the throttle and snap it all the way open. This must be done quickly to work, and it'll come up WAY faster than you expect. But it will come up if that's what you really want. Again, proceede at your own risk, but that'll do it. Be ready to **** yourself and let off.
ok. now whats an easy way of lettin it down without slappin the tank wit my chest. i did that the other day after i went over a lil bridge and gunned it on the way down. front wheel definetaly got some good air but had to let go of the throttle because a sharp turn was comin up. comin down i smacked the hell outa the tank. do i just have to brace myself better?
Well, that's one way of doing it. Here, watch this and do what he says. It ends abrubtly but informative. Watch and learn.
He knows what he's doing.
Enjoy.

Remember, he's on a 636 so surely you can do this.

well i think i finally got it down. i did went to 6k in first and then gunned it and it finally came up. cant wait to get her up tonight on some straighter roads so i can hold it more. hopefully it wont be so damn windy. thanks
I can finally get it up for a lil bit (that sounded wierd). Now how do i ride the wheelie. Ive seen people standin up with it and sittin down. My questions is if they are sittin down how are they not flippin backwards. Ive only gotten the wheel up to 10 o'clock. Dont really wanna push it till i know how to actually ride it with it up like that.
