VF1000?
so I"m looking at an 84 VF1000 to restore and ride, its a cheap bike, comes with the title, only really needs a starter to make it ridable right now and I cant come up with a VF1000 on any parts sites. are there any other bikes that parts will interchange from? I know the 84-86 VF1000 is about the same, but the thing that I'm having problems with is finding the starter online to replace it.

The Hammer is referring to the fact that many of the 80's V-Fours had problems getting oil to the rear cylinder cams resulting in premature wear. so it might be a good idea to pull the cam covers to take a look see. There were various mods produced to take care of this problem. I had an 85 V-65 Sabre. and once read an report by one of Honda's test riders (who did reliability testing on these bikes) who said that they never had any of the problems reported by other riders. Bottom line was to always keep the revs down until the bike was fully warmed up. A good resource is the Honda V-four message board, dedicated to the mid 80's Sabres, Magnas and Interceptors, Try http://www.v4hondabbs.com/
