Hi, trusted friends... HEEEELP !!!!!!!!!!! I'll try to make this short (a first). I was out spank'n it w/ a bunch of 600's. I'm on my 94 1000f, 4/2/one, jet kit, K&n, stock shock and forks, I did pretty good, despite 200lb (bike) and 100lb(rider) disadvantage and ride'n a "sport tour'r" I need to upgrade to a ... (atleast a 954/ liter sport bike)????? Most interested in suspension, brakes,... I really overrode them, sevearly... I know I could upgrade both ends of the bike... but they would still be on a 550+lb bike.

I've got a 88 1100 gixxer,minty fresh/low milage, Lots of upgrades, USD's FOX shock, stg.3 engine... but i'm not change'n the aftermarket 18" wheels for 17's, to get better rubber/handle'n. Old skool axe.

SO... I'm 6' 4"/ 260, Need a liter+ bike... Nice ' blade??, upgrade a'bird w/ trick supension???, get a 1000rr????. I'm not THAT fast... but I'm going to eat it, pushin it this hard, w/o better suspension/ brakes/ handle'n. 150+hp, would level the field on the straights too. I feel comfortable w/ the idea of the upgrade to a single purpose carver...

I sorta have 15k$$ to play w/... but lean toword "collector investments", so it dosent have to be "new"... SICK, IS COOL !!!!!!!!!!! Got a Duc, already...

15K...i wouldn't bust a bird or any of those as they are still pretty heavy...1KRR is good but you don't want to blow your wad on new things...maybe a used 1KRR or a 954 on a good price, then get suspension work...and you're good to go!

 

I'd go with the 929 over the 954. But with that kind of Dough, I'd do a 600rr with American Honda FX engine and suspension work. That thing was doing 180RWHP!!!

 

If you're gonna do a 929, get a 954 (02 was the best year) and if you're gonna do a 954, you may as well get a 1000[8D] So I say get an older 1000

Are you keeping the cbr1kf? Do you want something to destroy all your buds bikes and scare you self silly.
How about a xxbird engine worked, with nos, and a cbr900rr frame with ohlins suspension there was 1 for sale in one of the trader rags not to long ago for about $7500 USD had lots of custom stuff, looked hot. Maybe you can find something like that and then still have money to bet whose going to get to the next village in a race or go take a trip to the Isle of Man.

For that kind of cash you have a ton of options and there was an 06 cbr1000rr for sale here for $11,000
with lots of work done with custom wheels in the classified section the guy wanted to buy a mv augusta so needed to unload the cbr. Me I wouldn't go new, Iwould find a custom bike that someone has done up and has just gotten bored with or lost driving priveledges for, as now is a buyers market and you should be able to do very well.
