Default Jveach's new bike project

So I decided I wanted to try something new and different. I couldn't find a RC51 at a good price sadly

Well I ended up with a 2000 model TL1000r, So far I like it alot. The torque to the Vtwin is insane. Its a lil scary in the corners but will still hang the road. Just takes a bit more guts to throw it on its side like I use to my 600cc bikes.

I hope to have another CBR soon, I bought this just a toy to play with.

Well guys let me know what ya think?

haha doesnt look like much of a project i was expecting something in pieces or in dire need of work. You got anything in mind for it besides those mods? Otherwise i think its a good looking bike. Congrats on the purchase, enjoy it!

LoL, that's the reason I bought this one. It was ready to go. I've had to completely rebuild almost every bike I've had from ground up. This one was bought to be a cruiser mainly for road trips.

It still needs some work though, It doesn't want to idle right ( I believe its because K&N + Full exhaust with no PC to program fuel right) Also I have to completely rebuild the forks and put all new bearings in the tree's.

I'm sure I'll come up with many more mods as it goes along, I'm not one to just leave anything alone for long.

Yeah i hear you, having busted up bikes sucks, my f4i was in shambles when i bought it, my rr is scratched up on the one side and needs new tires, chain, sprocket, steering bearings, etc before i can ride it. I need to stop doin that to myself and just buy something thats just ready to ride and i dont have to spend time and money on haha. Im always gonna want to mod and upgrade my bikes, thats fun, having to fix stuff until you can ride it....not so much usually.

I think im gonna wait a few months before i do the steering bearings, its just got that notch when you bring the bars across the center point so i want to get at least some seat time in before i have to tear her apart again.

That should make a good cruiser/road tripper though, i hate 600s on the highway, eventually ill get something bigger like you did for stuff like that. Ive been wanting to go on a nice little bike trip anyway so thatll make a good excuse for buying a second bike.

I highly suggest a Vtwin if you want something for road trips, This bike at 80mph is only running at about 3,800rpm. Plus the torque is insane, It pulls as hard when you go w.o.t from 3800 as a I4 would pull at 11000.

Ive actually always wanted an rc51 like you first said but im not sure if those would get too uncomfortable for long trips since theyre just a pure vtwin sportbike but as far as more sport cruiser vtwins id definitely go with a duc monster or maybe a vfr. This is all probably a year or two off at least anyway.

Looks like a worthy project bike.

As an RC51 owner, I completely understand your desire to find one. ;-) I'm looking a for a second one. ;-)

LoL, I will have one someday. I just couldn't see dropping that much coin for one right now. The one's I had found that where really even worth taking a look at where between 5 and 6 grand. The TL is basically Suzuki's version of the RC but I'm only into this bike for about 2500 bucks.

I'm in process of getting a few bills paid off then I'll be buying a brand new 1000rr, So I really didn't wanna spend much into a road bike for just highway trips.

The TL has a great riding position also, I've took it on a couple of 300 mile trips so far, I don't get tired at all while riding it, Its really comfy. Just need to figure out a good way to haul luggage on it.

Yeah, I've been on the TL. Its a solid bike. Enjoy it.

The RC51 is such a great bike. I liken it to a P51...its dated but classic & will always be a lot of fun.

Updated Photo's

The carbon fiber screws with my camera, Makes it really hard to get a good picture. Its always looks black.
