Help!!! should I buy this bike???
Listing...
I have a 87 500 ninja for sale with 5800 miles on it.
It was my sons bike an he never paid me the rest of the money he owes me. I will part it out or sell it as a whole bike.
The bike is not perfect. It does run good.
I put a new clutch in it for him. The bike has sat for two years now.
I would just like to part it out . Or if someone wants a small project bike to tinker with. 500.00 or best offer will take it.
I want to get a bike for my girlfriend to learn on, I realize it isn't a honda but can you guys help me out?
He said he will take $400 cash. That seems REALLY low to me. KBB says 1,100. Granted it is winter here
in michigan but still?!? I am attempting to attach a pic, I am a computer idiot so forgive me.
Thanks again,
Justin

Cosmetically, the bike actually looks pretty nice for $400. Parts alone should be worth that much since this bike is still manufactured today mostly unchanged from then.If it was his son's bike, make sure the title is in the dad's name so he's authorized to sell it. Also,he seems to be pushing it as a parts bike, so it probably needs a lot of work to make it street worthy. So if you're not mechanically inclined or don't have the time, a 20 year old bike is not the way to go. Hope that helps and good luck.
it says its a 1987, but I see a MAJOR issue here, the bodywork on it, is from a 94+ model EX500. that alone sends up a red flag to me. new clutch w/5800 on the bike sends up another one. save your money.
the clutch makes me wonder if it hasnt been stunted, or abused heavily, replacment bodywork makes me suspicious of crash. pre 94 front fairings looked like the EX250 plus a full lower fairing, the 94+ design is different, and has no lowers.

I almost mentioned that it didn't look like an '87. A buddy of mine had an '87 model when they were new and I didn't remember it looking like that. Yeah, who knows how many different parts from other bikes it has on it.
