Default GAS GAUGE 98 cbr 600 ?

ya know who ever designed the 98 cbr 600 f3 is a dumb *** there's 3 thing a man needs on a motorcycle you need a speedometer ,tachometer and a "gas gauge" i have all but one ..... if i knew the bastard I'd make him push a 600 about a mile so he would never forget to leave the GAS GAUGE out again .......... 2nd time i have ran out !!!!!!!! Try using the odometer and the "on" position for fuel tap. You will figure out how far you can go before you hit reserve and still have the reserve to get you to a gas station.
Be careful insulting Honda engineers... most are ninjas and will kill you in your sleep.

I don't know why they didn't put a gas gauge in. I haven't ran out yet, but I've come real close and I don't doubt I will eventually. Does anybody know any good aftermarket gas gauges?

Why aren't you guys using your reserve when you run out?

Know your bike doesn't have a gauge, but it has an odometer. I'll tell you that your 600 makes between 40 and 45 mpg. Let's call it 43mpg for shiggles. From empty, it takes 3.5-3.7 gallons of fuel to top a F2's tank off. F3 tanks are a little bigger from what I hear. So that works out to at least 150-160 miles on a tank til you hit reserve again. Once on reserve - you have another 10-15 miles if you milk it.

gotta know your machine, and think ahead - kinda follows a quote a boss used to tell me "A lack of planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part."

LOL your boos sounds like my former boss.
Yeah I reset my trip meter every time I can get almost 200 mile out of a tank of fuel. when it starts to sputter I switch to reserve and head for the gas station.

I could be wrong, but don't most bikes this old not have gas gauges?

I do what everyone else says... I reset the trip every time I fill up. Usually around 120 or 130 I fill up again. Tonight I got to 172 before I put it in reserve.

Same here with the trip meter. Doesn't the F3 have a low gas light? My F4 does, and it lights up with atlest 20 miles left. Much more if you baby it.
