Death and destruction here in New York. Massive rain and flooding, towns being evacuated and yada yada. Wish I bought more parts for the bike so I had something to do on my days off work during all of this haha.

Where in NY are you? I'm west of Albany 20 miles. We got hit with 12" more rain here and more coming. They have evacuated parts of Schenectady, Schoharie, Rotterdam Junction and other towns again.

Roads and some bridges are closed due to flooding. Today was the first day back to school but all schools are closed.

I live about an hour and 20 minutes south west of Albany, about 20 miles outside of Binghamton. Everything is closed here, same as back in 2006 but I guess it's supposed to be a bit worse this time around. I haven't worked in 2 days and I live a half mile from where I work if that's any indication of how bad it is. My electricians apprentice class got canceled tonight too. I only live about 800 feet from the Susquehanna river but luckily we're high enough up that we don't get flooded. We can only go about a 1/4 mile in any direction though. I'll try to get some pictures of it today or when the water goes over the bridge later tonight.

It's a good thing that you aren't taking classes at SUNY Cobleskill.

^ I didn't think you got twisters in HI. Do they ever touch down?

The water caused millions of $$$ in damage. In theses pictures that I took across the river looking back to my side, you can see some of the damage. The first picture shows lock lock #8 with a barge stuffed in it. The river decided to go around the the lock when it got full of debris (entire trees). The river now flows around the lock in what use to be a parking lot.

In the second picture, the river decided to go around lock #10. You can see the power building in the river flow. Then you can see the lock and then the gates.

Lock #9 is the worst. There is a huge drop off where the road should be that goes over the gates.

Locks #11 and 12 are a big mess also.

They need to get theses things fixed before spring run off or there will be flooding problems.

It is not really a twister. It is just cool to see without any potential damage

from wikipedia : A funnel cloud is a funnel-shaped cloud of condensed water droplets, associated with a rotating column of wind and extending from the base of a cloud (usually a cumulonimbus or towering cumulus cloud) but not reaching the ground or a water surface.

BTW... you ever heard the poetry contest joke using timbuctwo?
