zx10 squid
One time I was at the Honda shop a while back and thistard salesman was trying to push this new guy onto a 1000RR. The customer asked for a brochure or somethingand when the salesman went to get it I was quick to go talk to the customer. He told me he has never ridden before, doesn't have a permit or license, so I just flat out told him that it was way too much bike to start on. The salesman came back and I pretended like nothing happened.
The customer later left and I hope he took my advice.

Do you guys need a motorcycle license where you are to buy a bike? In Florida, they wouldn't sell me a bike without the endorsement. Just wondering what state you are in.
lets fill out a credit app. he hopped on the bike about an hour later after doin his paperwork and could not even get it started hell he almost dropped it trying to get moving. after watching him stall and stall he finally got it MOVING.
...unless you go to those classes...
Here in Ohio, not only is there no requirement for a license to purchase a bike, but there are no helmet or protection laws either. It's like squid heaven because all you need is enough money to buy the bike and a pair of sunglasses, and you are on your way.
I can't talk too much crap though because I learned to ride on a friend's Hayabusa and then my first bike was a liter. If your smart (old) enough to respect the bike, it's OK. I can definitely see how someone without the proper respect for the bike could get in WAY over their head, though.
Which bike has the changeable fuel settings to take away power, is it the R1? Sell them one of those and tell them to leave it turned down.

Ive never heard anybody ever say that they will getboredwith a 600 (in person that is). How dumb can people be? I think I would probably have more fun on a 600 (Thinkin of trading).
Here in Washington you can buy a bike without an endorsement. And if you do have one you can test ride any bike you want.

you'll find that most people don't know **** about ****, especially motorcycles. you really notice this after the fast and the furious came out, everyone who didnt know anything about cars was all NOS this and NAWZ that and "oh you have $20k in engine work in that cobra? well i dont know what an engine is, or a cobra, but all i have to do is put some NAWZZZZ on my civic and we can race for pinks ya diggggg". as far as biker squids without bikes go, 600s and 1000s arent different classes of machines, 600s are for toddlers and women, and 1000s are for lookin cool. i mean after all, you can't wheelie on anything less than 1000cc.
there were a few squids at bike night (who don't have anyone but themselves to talk to for obvious reasons) but you should listen to them, every conversation they have is about either:
(a) dawwwwg i just done gots finished racing this____ (usually a katana) n i smoked the **** out of him
(b) yeah? that aint nothin, i know this guy who knows this guy who has a hiyaboosta made out of solid platinum with 4 turbos, nawzzz, and a supercharger.
(c)whatchu mean roadcourse? what that is?mayyyyyne, yall just dont undastannn, 1000s aint meant for corners, theys made fo' speed

I'm not to sure abouthte requirement to have a liscense in order purchase a bike, but i do know that if you only have your permit you have to wear a helmet, and for the first year after you have your liscense/endorsementt, you have to wear a helmet. Not saying that people following these laws by any means, rather I'm just clarifying.
My brother had a hell of a time when he bought his R1. The salesmen at the shops gave him **** since he'd never ridden before and they said they'd ride it to our house and drive back the salesman to the shop. When I walked into shops and said I wanted a 1kRR, the salesmen asked me how long I'd been riding and I told them I'd ridden my brother's R1 a couple of times and only around the neighborhood. They didn't bat an eye. I only had my learner's (which is really limited in VA) when I bought my bike from a dealer inPennsylvania, but neither VA nor PA requires a license/endorsement to purchase a bike, and PA just needsproof of insurance.
one of my buddies bought a 05 ninja 250 (he didnt have a permit and had never ridden before) and after he signed the papers and was in the dealer parking lot for his 1st time on it he dropped it and ****ed it up.
right after we all got done laughing @ him we went over to see if he was ok , then the lady who signs off on all the paper work came out and asked what happened and we told her that he had never ridden before and didnt even have a permit. she said after that she would never again sell a bike to someone who didnt have a permit..
