Default Are you allowed to cut a license plate?

Are you allowed to cut a license plate to get it to fit somewhere ? Im just talking about the excess on the left and right sides...or is it against the law to alter em or sumthing...

I cut mine in half when I get replacements. I am guessing that is not what you are speaking of....

You can NOT cut the plate legally in NY, but i have mine folded to fit under my tail
Ive heard comments from the police about its location but Never about it being bent

I folded the edges over to make mine fit between the high-mount exhaust on the Ducati. Not noticeable, probably only took like 1/2" of area off the length and width. Legal? No. Will anyone ever notice unless I point it out to the inspecting officer? No. Will I ever point it out? Hell no.

Even though you pay for them, they are still considered state property.


I dont know how big. Go ask a judge. Hell, show it to them.
