Default Xtreme buying experience!! must read!!

ok.. so i made a post last week.. saying i was going to get my new 07 600RR.. all was well.. numbers were worked out.. so i trailered my bike up and headed to ohio from NY..... when i got there.. they offered me less on my trade in than they had told me over the phone.. and asked me to end my ebay auction and bring the bike down to trade in.. auction was at $3,585 with 3 days left.. they told me they would give me 4k for my trade.. when i got there they offered me $3,500?!? less than my auction was already up to.. so i packed up my bike and left with no 07.. i guess i have too much pride to get the whole "hey he drove this far he isnt going to tell us no" treatment!!

let me know what you guys think.. did i do the right thing? should i have just grabbed my ankles and done the deal? looks like im waiting untill spring to get a new bike now....

thanks for reading.. PS.. the dealership is Xtreme Honda in Brilliant, OH... DONT BUY SO MUCH AS A T SHIRT FROM THOSE RIVER TRASH AS$HOLES! THANKS

should of left the auction up until the bike was actually sold to the dealer, thats probably why they asked for you to pull it off of ebay, for more leverage, because then you couldnt say "my bike will sell for this much" I never liked dealer ships, car or bikes. I dont really see the point in a dealership anyways, other then a place to "look" at a bike, its not like a car, you cant test drive it, so what service do they provide you, other then being the only place to buy a bike.

ya you screwed you self legally. You should have them bid on your auction at the amount they promised you over the phone and then end the actuion with the "sell to higher bidder" option.

That way if they tried to screw you, you have legal recourse

legal resources, no test drives? you guys are in a world of your own.
first off Zac, you should have been prepared that the dealer would have lowered the price once your got there. who gives a crap what they said over the phone and what the ebay auction went for. they are not a super market and they dont have to/need to price match.

second, you should aslo take into account that the ebayer that would win the auction will come down to look at the bike and bargin some more. as an example, i once overbid like crazy on a gxsr. i won the auction at 7k and when i went to see the bike it looked exactly like the pics on the auction and the description was accurate. still, i offered the dude 6.2k. he didnt want it and i left.

i dont know what your bike is worth or what kind it is but if the dealer offered you a bit less than a private sale than you should have taken the offer. unless you have a 05 1krr thats worth 7+k and they offered 3.5k.

personally, i think you will just end up wasting time with no extra money in the pocket. now lets look at the money issue. you will probably relist the bike on ebay, pay the post fee, pay the sales fee, paypal fee (if it will apply) and you will never be sure that the winning bid will come through with the money.

i dont know if it was that pride got in your way, stubbornness, or just foolishness; most likely it was all three but driving back for those 7 hours with nothing is just wack. if you would factor in the difference between what the dealer offered to what you will get from ebay minus the fees, it comes down to something like 150 bucks gain. something like that, right? and last question, how much gas money did you burn durning your trip?

... well.. it wasnt wasted gas money.. it was easy to do i was already going to columbus, ohio for the night to see some friends and take care of some ****... . . but they were just very unproffesional.. the only money it really cost me was $54 for the uhaul trailer for 2 days.. i mean i know what i can get for my bike.. i already had a dealership locally offer me 4k for it with me purchasing no bike from them.. they just wanted it to flip, they just didnt have the bike i wanted..

no foolishness.. the ebay auction cost me $34?? big deal.. yes i did learn the lesson regarding the auction closing.. i should have had them bid on the bike and end it as is.. but i didnt.. .

bottom line is a mans word is only as good as the man.. and the men who gave me thier word at that dealership were not quality humanbeings.. not to mention when they took my bike off the trailer they dropped it on the right side.. no problems.. or scratches.. the cover was still on it.. but shoot.

PS i dont pay for gas.. i work for an oil company.. (gotta love it)

a salesman's word at a dealership is garbage. You need to get stuff in writing. Why not sell the bike to highest bidder with the auction when it ended. Then take the money to the dealership?

Wow dude, youre a real piece of f*ckin $hit pulling something like that. How the hell do you do something like that in good conscience? What would you do if someone bid $800 more than what they were willing to pay for something you were selling and pulled that stunt on you? And dont give me some preacher bull$hit like "oh well I definitely would have understood, blah blah blah". I would have slashed your f*ckin tires so your cheap *** would have had to spend part of that difference you werent willing to pay for the bike on new tires for your car.
You sound like the kind of guy that should work at this dealership that screwed over Zac. You'd fit right in.
