Default XBox E74 Error

Has anyone had this before?
Last night while playing COD:W@W, the sky started looking all pixilated with vertical black lines
i played two games like this and decided to start my xbox over to see if it would help
instead i got the black error screen with the E74 error
i unhooked everything and hooked it back up and started itagain and it worked, but the sky was still pixilated
i played the rest of last night, then turned it on this morning and it was fine (sky still pixilated)
played some more then got off to take a break
a few hours later tried to turn it on and got the black e74 error again and this time unhooking everything hasnt helped

ive heard it could be the AV cable, but i was jw if anyone else has had this problem and if there were any quick fixes
ive already requested my shipping box to send it in
but my christmas break is coming up next week, the time i would be able to play for 3 weeks with no responsibility as far as school goes
and now im stuck with a messed up box.
jw if anyone had anything that might help

I've never had an e74 error with mine, in fact I've never even heard of this problem. I suggest searching for it in google, or even better, ask on the xbox site, someone there is bound to know something.

Yup, sounds like strings are getting stuck in the GPU or just not being processed correctly(if at all). Get on the phone with microsuck

Oh and....google turns up a few overheating xbox problems related to this...which would make sense...when most graphics processors get hot...they tend to start fuggin up. Follow this to see if you can remedy the problem(this is for those recieving this error AND getting a flashing red light)

yea i ordered my box to send it off...
this is pretty aggravating
i had my first xbox for over a year and a half then it RRoD'd, but luckily i had the
best buy warranty so i just took it in and got a new one like that, and got to upgrade to
an elite for the diff. in price
ive had this one for idk a year maybe and its already messin up

is there any reason that its pretty much assumed that ur xbox is gonna fry eventually?
i like theyre online community and gaming more than ps3, but why is it that sony doesnt have a
"well here's ur box, see u in a year" type mentality with their machines?

Ah...and yet another reason why I love the PC. I can fix my own damn problems.

Well....i had an 80gig ps3 for no more than 3 months....and it stopped reading ALL discs...blu-ray, cd, dvd, vcd, didn't matter, wouldn't read anything. couldn't find my reciept, sony wanted 140 to fix a problem that i obviously wasn't the only one having, i told them to shove it and sold the ps3 to someone who was willing to pay that price
