Well I am sitting in my garage the other day and I hear a very distinct exhaust tone, one that you dont hear very ofton, in fact I have yet to see one anywhere near my area. I walk outside and see and brand new, ducati 848!!!! Guy was stopped at my neighbors house, being intreged by the bike I walk over and start talking with the guy about his bike since the closest ducati dealer is about two hours away in new jersey! Guy was dressed in a brand new aria helmet and very nice and safe looking armored jacket and textile armored pants(as this goes on this is the only smart thing about him) I have seen this guy before, only about 22 years old. Said he just picked up the bike the other day, wanted to be different. As the conversation goes on in comes out that this guy hase never, repeat never rode a street bike prior to buying this bike off the showroom floor! Paid for the bike outright, something about thanking his relative? throughout the conversation says things like ya was riding wit my boy and he was smoking his tire at 80mph, and man I just had to try it out a little and before you know it I looked down and was doing 140mph and man you could really feel the air rushing over my helmet!!! siad he was riding wit his boys and they were doing skitches(spelling) and riding on the tank and man I couldnt believe it I cracked this thing and the front came right up in the air!! My question is this, how can some sell somebody who has never riden a street bike before a FRIGGIN DUCATI 848!!!!!!!!! I wouldnt be able to sleep at night after doing something like that! I know we have all seen the post of should I start on a 600ccSS bike ect...but this I think is unreal. I really hate to say it, and I really hope I am wrong but this guy is gonna end up hurt or worse on this thing, especially if he is all ready riding with guys who are in my opinion retarded doing 140 on a highly populated highway and doing stunts and 80mph. Have morals completelygone away, I mean does anyone see anything past a dollar any more? I couldnt do it, I would wake up everyday thinking huh, wonder if he made to another day? I could be completely off base here, and hopefully the kid really does take it safe and makes it to the first service, I dont know. Guess this was sorta a rant....thanks guys!

 

that bike is sexiness.........and as far as "how could someone sell somebody who has never riden before a friggin ducati 848?" money brother, money makes the world go 'round. some people at dealerships could just care less. they get their check and go home.

Same reason they all do it, because they can and they think it makes them look cool. Who wants to be the one to tell him you don't look very cool after taking a dive at 140?

When you give a person money, you cheapen them. He'll have a wake up call soon enough. Give thanks for the fact that you are not that kind of person and move on. Earning your way in life will always make you a better person.

 

It would be nice if a dealership salesman had a sense of responsibility, but they are salesmen. It is not unlike lenders that made sub-prime loans to people who had no business buying a new house. I would kill for that Duc, but as a first time rider, I should have known better. That douchebag, at best, will be able to hide the skin grafts after he wrecks. I can't help but think we are thining the heard sometimes. Is that wrong?

 

A 22 year old kid with a Duc. as that, either he has a very good credit... or he does something illegal for living[&:]
