Why do we wreck so much

I think it happens alot cause we forget to look ahead the get to relaxed. I know sometimes I get lost in my head thinking about stuff while riding while I should be looking ahead. Lots of people don't see us, I've had people pull out in front of me and I've had people pull into my lane alot over time. My brother put a dent in some womans car door cause pulled into his lane, he honked his horn and she was shoving him off the road, so he kicked her door in and she moved away really quick. I TRY to watch everyone, but its hard to keep up with the idiots behind you that ride your *** while thier on the cell phone without and hands on their wheel.

For your amusement........
The rhyme of the ancient biker
The time has come, the biker said, to whisper in the wind
Of corners taken much too fast, when in the past I’ve sinned
By cutting off my fellow man to get to breakfast early
Or braking late, I sealed the fate of one who was more worthy.
We ride too fast, the biker said, in groups or going shopping
The ones behind will surely find no place for panic stopping
So hear the plea from such as we who haven’t had the training
Spread out a bit, avoid a hit, and save us from a maiming…
The roads are bad, the biker, sad, to lose another member
When jokes are heard he’ll pass the word, and better you remember
For youth and time they are no crime so hear what he is saying
And heed the word, or so I’ve heard, your friends may end up praying
The hospitals and wards are full, the broken and the buckled,
Of those of us who curse and cuss but on a beer have suckled
So take a hike, don’t ride your bike when flirting with a brandy
The ones who do will vow to you how hard the pavement can be!
For such as we who live so free, the road is ever calling,
But rain and ice are never nice and soon will send you sprawling
The right hand bend could be your end if taken oh so speedy
And potholes too will skittle you and leave you feeling needy
So heed the word – it’s not absurd to listen to his whisper
For he has been, and surely seen some things to make you shiver
A shredded tyre, a bike on fire and from the bushes moaning
This little rhyme- please take your time- and get to where you’re going!![Big Grin](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

been down twice 1 street, 1 track.
street - high sided braking into a turn...some guy cut his lawn (and apparently his gravel driveway) and it ended up in the street. if i was paying more attention i would've noticed it...my fault
track - too much clutch off the line. 12 o'clocked it. definately my dumb *** fault. first time on a pro tree and i got antsy.
in my eyes...as long as we can walk away and live to ride another day, it could've been worse so count your blessings.

Amen to that...
When we're playing around, and exploring the limits of our bikes and our abilities... eventually we're bound to find them...

Nice one Pete![Big Grin](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I think way to many riders do not understand the seriousness of what they are doing, due to perhaps never having crashed, or even after crashing and getting away with it relatively un damaged.
Some don't seem to get it into their heads just how bad it is to go flipping down the road on your *** in a bad crash...
Sport bikes have always, by their nature been ridden harder than touring ones..
Many I think are young and suffer the " I am invincible thing " as well..
If you manage to grow old, stay alive and keep ridding , you learn just how bad and how short your life can be made so very quickly..
Sport bikes are deadly weapons that can kill as quickly as a gun.
Think before you go pulling the trigger each and every time you go out and you may last to grow into an old rider on the road...
Bike are allot like airplanes , except on the ground...
There is not much room for error!!! ever!!! and when it goes all wrong , you are usually in deep **** !!!..
In Australia ..allot of the locals call bike riders " TEMPORARY AUSTRALIANS " ???
I think there is a message in that ??
take care ...

Been down twice.
1st time, I was on my way home from soccer practice. Started running out of gas, reached down to switch to my reverse, guy behind me was riding my ***. I was not paying attention to where I was on the road and got in the ditch. The guy riding my *** did not even stop.
2nd time, I was out with a good friend on our way to the local hot spot for bikes, Sun Spot Highway. The riders from NM know where I am talking about, a ton of twisties. Started to lose traction in a long slow left hander. Braked as I was taught. I lost control in some gravel and down I went.
Lesson learned:
1. Always make sure you have enough gas, pay close attention to the road and screw the tail gaters
2. Always know your surroundings/road conditions.
I learned from them and I am able to tell about it. Ride with gear always. Helmets save lives.
