This story on the ford pickup sounds like they were a bunch of schmucks that were working on that thing. i am a diesel tech working at a ford dealer and the 6.0 had her problems, which was mainly the people working on them. as far as the torque shift trans, i havent seen realy any problems with them. i do lots of work out of my garage at home and prefer to work on fords, just me though. ford is going to have alot of new things coming out soon and should be pretty cool.

Had good n bad of em all. I'm a chevy guy tho, but only really rip on Fords when someone else keeps boasting about how Ford this that is better than everything else BS. I like pustangs, but dont really care to have one because like a gixxer, everyone has one

If I could afford a modern muscle car, it would be the new camaro or challenger or the Jeep SRT8

I back this because everytime I had to work on one of my Fords, I always find myself noticing the diffrence in engineering from a GM ... and normally it's not in a helping way. Not saying they don't make decent products ... just not the ones I've had to work with LOL ('94 exploder and '94 Escort). I really enjoyed the escort while it lasted...
Did Ford really make and exploder? That would explain my brief encounter with their hardware, and answer my opinion of them simultaneously.

Why do I hate Ford, well the list goes on and on. But the main reason is I just don't think they make a good quality product. I think almost every car they made is so darn ugly including the new Mustang. GM and Dodge better looking cars. For example Corvette, Camaro, Silverado, Monte Carlo SS, Trailblazer SS (when they made those) and the Challenger just to name a few. To me all Fords feel cheap inside. I have driven both a F150 and a Silverado and the Silverado just has a better ride. Its more comfortable and quite. My Dad has a 12000LBS 30ft boat that he tows with a 2500 8.1L Suburban and it tows it beautifully. We have towed it with a V10 Excursion back when Ford made those and it just struggled going and stopping not to mention it swayed really bad which it doesn't do with the Suburban.

I do give Ford credit because they didn't file for bankruptcy like GM and Dodge did and they are trying to come around. The new SHO doesn't look to bad although I don't think it should have a Taurus badge on it.

All this is my personal opinion so please no hate post.

All I know is that, after 200k miles, the only problems my step-dad has had on his '99 f350 were the Banks power chip frying after more than 100k miles and having to replace the tranny twice. Considering he's got the full banks kit on the 7.3 power stroke diesel and that he tows fully loaded dual-axle trailers for work and play, I'd say she's done just fine. He'll have that truck until he dies.

Actually, now that I remember he recently had to replace the front torsion bar and bushings... after more than two-hundred thousand (mostly work) miles. lol

In the end, I think it's largely the same kind of hate that subie guys have for mitsubishis.... that honda guys have for gixxers..... you get a vehicle you love and you tend to develop some brand loyalty -- on the flip side, you get one bad experience with a brand (be it a vehicle or a particular dealer) and you may hate it for life.

I'll give you this my 05 Silverado 1500 is a piece of ****. at 31k miles the catalytic converter and the fule pump both went out and the window seals always are loud as hell after only 40k miles

i'm not too pleased with it but everything was covered under warranty that broke at least but it still is meh at best. but then again its a V6

My ...
I hate ford because I used to work at a Dealer/Service Center and saw all the shady BS that went down everytime your car/truck came in for service. The salesmen (not that this changes for any brand) were sneeky thieves that did nothing but lie and screw people, the techs working on the cars were lazy and liars, and it just seemed like the product was not of very good quality. Only good thing from working there: paycheck, discount on parts. LOL.

People typically get jealous of the better brands so they have to rip it apart for some reason. Hence people trying to rip on Ford. Of many car manufacturers Ford is doing great as of right now compared to the other American auto manufacturers. If you look at tsb's too on a Ford there really isn't that many problems. Ya I mean some of the cars might have a higher one than normal but over all not to bad.
