Why 600RR as opposed to a 1000RR?

RE: Why 600RR as opposed to a 1000RR?
I don't know about what other people feel about this, but here is my personal opinion on this subject....
I had a 600 (Katana 600) and it got me around fine! In fact I agree with you, I think its more suited for city riding, but it would do everything well in the twisties too. But since I'm a little bit larger than normal (5'11" 250 pounds) I wanted something a little more suited for my size. The Kat didn't have the pickup at 80mph to say 110 with me on it.. Now with my buddies on it (Like 150-180 pounds) it would flat get it, but for me it was sluggish. Sooooooooo, I got the 1000. Now, I get what I was looking for. Also, the Kat was a little small for me. I felt like I was towering over it and kinda "scrunched" up on it.. But maybe that's me. When I sat on my CBR 1K, it was a perfect fit!! A LOT more comfortable and the power was right where I wanted it. So for me, it was a comfort thing. Don't get me wrong though, I have had my Kat up to about 135 with more throttle left, but it takes a little while for her to get that fast. The CBR, that is two downshifts from 85mph and one hand full of throttle and your there! Hahahahaha... I rarely do that though... Too dangerous.. [:-]
Besides, I do more long distance trips living here in Texas... You know, the long trips with lots of curvy roads.. Having lots of roads to ride on does have its advantages!!

There is a definite addiction for power. I have a 10 second pro street camaro, and I am always looking to make it faster. Same for the bike I guess, and I do live in the flatlands of northern Texas where the roads go forever without making a single turn. Our tires wear out in the middle and still have all of the tread on the sides around here. There's nothing wrong with my bike, it only has 2200 miles on it. I have just pushed it to the limit and want more.[8D]

Ahhhhhhhhh....Ok...There's the reason, Eric. Like I said..No open roads like you have in TX over here. Just tons and tons of traffic and once in a while, if your lucky, you might get a stretch of open, empty highway. I guess that's why it only makes sense for me to keep the 600 for practical reasons as I would never really get the chance to use the 1000 for it's full potential!

peejay... have you rode the 1000? cause if so you might understand the "sluggish" comment. *i personally bought my 600 cause it is my first bike & i was told b/c i'm a girl i didn't need anything bigger, & yeah, its cheaper*...... been riding it for a year now & loving it. But a friend w/ an 05 1000RR let me ride it a few weeks ago.................. & now my 600 isn't good enough (shh don't tell him i said that.) But it IS sluggish... compared to the 1000... & now i understand why i lag behind my friend's litter bikes struggling to keep up. The 1000RR will be my next bike.. when i get the 600 paid off a little more & can afford the 1000! -oh & don't get me started on how easy & FUN it is to wheelie a 1000..........

Yes, I have ridden the 1000 and have ridden with other liter bikes! I have no prob keeping up with them, I just keep it revved higher and in the lower gears when they want to screw with me!. Sluggish??? HELL NO...you just gotta know how hard to push it and how high to rev it! I know they got more power but you would be surprised at how "un-sluggish" your bike really is if you push it harder Maybe they did something right with the '05 CBR 600RR cause I seriously have no probs keeping up w/ the 1000's. If we're going on a 5 mile straight, then there would be a problem but not in the normal runs! BTW... got the bike up to 163 mph the other day and know I had more room for more! I'm happy enough with that and the faxt that I AM PAYING $3000.00 less for the brand new 600 and about $1,500.00 less on insurance

Me thinks thou protest too much[8D] I don't know who you guys are trying to convince with the 600 over 1000 posts. Road Atlanta barely has a 1/4 mile straight mixed in with tons of fun twisties and the 1000 times (shamefully GSXR) are almost 2 secs faster per lap than the 600s.
A lot of people prefer a 600 to a 1000 and I can certainly understand that ... there's just something about the way they scream when ya kick 'em in the ****. The 600RR is an outstanding bike in its on right. No one has ever heard me disparage the 600RR. I'm thinking that you'd find it ridiculous for somebody on a 500 bike to say that cause its 20# lighter it'll kick your 600's butt on twisty city streets. Well, a GP 500 bike WOULD actually kick both a 600 and a 1000's *** but those bikes start out in the $50,000 range so we won't compare with them
So again I say I will no longer get sucked into the CC comparo bashing -- these threads always start out so innocent and end up in an endless pissing contest. The only thing left is for someone to get mad and offer to race for $$ -- believe me it was coming.
And yo, Amy -- how about putting a jacket on when you're doing those wheelies. Nothing sexier than a chick in leathers[sm=drlove.gif]

I guess you're right on there Chain....I guess I really like the way this particular bike moves and revs...I did own the '02 F4i and compared to that , this bikes got more *****! It's prolly cause in my area, we seriously don't have much room to push our bikes to the max as others do in more rural areas so like I said in my other post, You will rarely see anyone doing, say, 110mph for more than 2 minutes, let alone, 180 lol....So let's just say then that this particular animal that I own is perfect for my environment but probably wouldn't be if I lived in a nice open road country! Peace
