this is the thinnest edge trim I can find. 1/32 is .031", which depending on your thickness, may be just right.
http://www.mcmaster.com/#rubber-trim/=alcuqw Or, if you know of anyone that has a metal shop and uses large band saw blades, many of them are shipped with a tooth protector. Its a thin, u-channel type of plastic that just covers the blades teeth. It would be perfect for your situation. If you can find some, you can heat it up slightly at your bends and it will form just right around the corners. Or, you may be able to buy some small vaccum hose from the autoparts store, slice it, and glue it on. It would leave sort of a rounded edge though and may hold the panel out too far. Here is a website that has quite a few different selections of removable rivets. Im sure they have one that would look good and serve the purpose. I would lean towards the push-pull P type rivet. if you get the .138 dia pin, they have over 25lbs of holding force each, and only a .25 dia head. Also, you could probably just go to any autoparts store and get some as well. http://www.wclco.com/Plastic_Compone..._Fasteners.php here is also a pic of the style. |
