Mine's #6, but a book I read made an interesting point about breed popularity: The more popular a certain breed is, the more likely it is being bred by backyard breeders and puppy mills that don't care too much about upholding the true characteristics of the breed.

I have a sheltie and she ranked as20th for popularity in 2007 and 2006 but was 16th in 2002 and 15th 1997 so it looks like they're on a downward trend. Here's a full list of the rankings by popularity for pretty much every breed:
