When is it too hot to ride?
Hey I am looking for an opinion. When is it to hot to ride? This weekend its looking to be hottttt down in the South East. Im talking tomorrow 102, Sat 106, Sun 106, and 100-Friday! Is that to hot to ride?
Never?
I've commuted in some pretty hot 100+ weather in full gear (helmet, jacket, over pants, gloves, boots) It's not fun, but I'd rather sweat than bleed. Just keep hydrated and like Demon said, get some gear that allows for circulation and keep moving.

When it gets over 90 I won't ride. I've gotten heat exhaustion from riding in full gear and was at a point where I couldn't cool myself down. I also got kidney stones at the age of 18 from being dehydrated so I dont take chances. I can't enjoy riding when I'm at that point.
when i lived in the panhandle, i rode in the triple digits often. like others have said, with a mesh jacket and as long as you're moving, it's not too bad. also, for sportbikes, they need open air and they need to move a little bit in order not to burn up.
in traffic, it's murder, but going down the road in the open wind, it's more than okay.
id say its fine so long as you aren't feeling dizzy and don't feel you're a danger on the road.

Geez, not many of you blokes would do well in an Aussie summer!
However, I agree with the other posters, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and wear a vented jacket to allow the breeze to blow through.
My partner and I both wear 2 litre camelbaks filled with water or sports drinks for any journey longer than a couple of hours in Spring/summer/autumn. Temperatures across the Hay Plain, or up through the semi-outback - Broken Hill way - on a journey to Sydney or further north it is not uncommon for the mercury to hit 45 or above (114 F). Feckin' hot

Here in phx, riding in the summer feels like heating the oven up to full temp, sticking your head inside and using a hair dryer to blow the oven heat in your face. So hot the bike is running between 215-220 at 80mph [yet somehow won't go past 228 when not moving] It hasen't stopped me yet unless Im lazy or just washed my truck
Haha thanks guys! I def always wrap it up, no squid here
Ill give it a shot, def dont want to endanger anyone else or myself out there. I always carry some extra gear and Gatorade will be a part of that Sat!

In the midwest, sometimes the heat isn't really the problem, but the humidity. It could be 80 and completely miserably if there's a 90%+ humidity problem. Anything higher is even worse.
That said, I'm a big fan of being comfortable when I ride, so my cut off is pretty low.
