What's your opinion on scooters?
It seems as though I'm doomed(financially) to not have a fast sport-bike for quite some time. With the bike I'm parting out I'll hopefully make about $1200 which is enough to get me a nice chinese scooter. My question is, do you guys think a 150cc scooter is enough to fend off my two-wheeled cravings until I can afford another CBR? Anyone have experience with one?

This is the one I'll be getting. Either in Red, Orange, or Black. I'll of course do quite a few mods to make it safer (headlights, louder horn etc) and "faster" (upgrade exhaust, maybe paint flames on it [joking of course]).

Nothing against scooters, but If I were you'd I'd save up some more cash and keep looking for another bike. Scooters are ok if that's all you've known, but if you've ridden and want a sportbike your going to feel like king of the tards, cruising through tardville on his tardmobile the first time someone on a rocket passes you while you putting along on your scooter.
Other than that it's a decent way for the inexperienced or scared to get into riding, everyone needs to start somewhere, but as for it staving off your sportbike cravings? Umm, nope, not going to happen, sorry.
On a side note, for 1200 you can find an older running bike and start fixing it up yourself while you ride it, may not win any beauty contests but it would sure as hell take care of your need to ride tons better than any scooter could.

Heh, was looking at one of those ruckus' too. Reminds me of my youth when I worked all summer to try to work off the cost of a minibike, seems like a fun way to cruise around town but it's no replacement for a sportbike.
p.s. I'm pretty much sure the term "Nice Chinese Scooter" is an oxymoron btw.

Sorry to thread jack, but the honda ruckus is a pretty nice scooter. Just don't expect to go fast, the motor is only 49cc. Here some pics of my two buddies and I on our ruckus's at a scooter rally in pittsburgh. We decided to wear our Fire Helmets just to joke around and mainly cause i could not stop laughing about the whole rally. I never missed my F4I so much.
