There is this kid that in my area that rides an R6. I was going home one day and he was in shorts and a T-shirt and a helmet. I stopped at the stop sign and I was going to make a left turn. Now this guy rolls up next to me, stops and takes a left turn. I'm like wtf, I was at the stop sign first. But there are alot of ppl on temp plates with little/no gear on. I saw a really nice brand new Respol CBR the other day when I was waiting for th bus.

 

Speaking of "unsafe" I was riding off the mountain last sunday to Redlands, on the way down 3 bikes come up from behind, mind you I 'am in a line of about 10 cars or so I'm at like 4th spot behind the lead car goin kinda slow, now I "DO NOT" pass over double yellows ever (can't afford a ticket, I carry also a class A lic) let aloneon mountain roads, now these riders are commin up from behind like I said and they are passing cars on corners over double yellows, they eventually pass me and move on to pass the cars that are in front of me. Now my qeustion, is this just the jiss cuz they are on sport bikes? regardlessthey are faster and more agile, am I wrong for hangin back and not passing where its not legal or safe ?

 

...Big Bro, you are never wrong for following the rules of the road i.m.o. Besides, why would you jeopardize your career for three seconds of riding? There have been far too many posts about downed riders in this early season. There are too many easy ways to keep ourselves safe. Be safe out there, everybody!

 

You're not wrong....just a more law-obiding rider, and possibly a safer one also. I've passed slow moving traffic over a double-yellow and it was COMPLETELY safe, only illegal. I realize I risk a ticket/fine, etc. but will bite that bullett if it comes my way. Just a choice people make brother. As long as the choice is thought through withrealizing allpossible outcomes/consequences, then it can be justified in MY mind as alright as long as it doesn't risk harm to others.

 

I see alot of stupid riders....as for gear...thats there choice...I normally wear my helmet...well always my helmet gloves and boots, but when its hot I peel the leather jacket off.....I might invest in a mesh jacket this summer b/c leather is just too hot....but the people I see that are riding wrecklessly are the ones with no gear on and riding wheelies down public streets.....

as for someone parkin gin the same spot....you can easily fit 2 bikes in one spot...hell I can fit my bike along with my Dads Big Harley ultra classic in the same spot and still have room.....It doesnt bother me when I come out and another bike is next to mine....

A lady today...driving a 6,000 lb. Yukon of course...was stopped right in the road, just before an intersection...though there was no stop sign indicating her to stop...never has been at that intersection.

She was gabbing away on her cell...

I finally motioned a bit of Italian hand language at her...and when I caught her attention..made the motion..."hang up...wake up...and drive".

She finally went through.

This other lady heading due south from me, who had also been wondering what the hell this woman was doing...saw me do that, started laughing, and gave me the thumbs up.

The U.S. hands out licenses like candy corn.

They should require EVERYONE to survive on a motorcycle for 3,000 miles before they ever get a car or motorcycle license.

All the dumbasses, jerks, brainless twits will be dead...driving will be safer...insurance rates drop...

Man, Try livig in Monterey when MotoGP comes around. Squid city. Then after the event leaves everyone that was following the import scene (becuase of the Fast and Furious movies) now move to bikes.

I see a bunch of young riders wearing only helmets, and the bike is in perfect condition. And I know excatly why this is, it's because when these squids go down, they get rid of the bike.

I've got a class mate who went from a 250 ninja (traded in after 1000 miles), 05 r6 (sold it to afriend that will never pay him), 06 r6 ( crashed at Laguna Seca cuz ofnew tires)and now a 07 cbr 6rr. all becuase he's gotto have the best, than rather be the best.

I've gotten use to the squids and just ride the other way.

 

Thats because after the wreck, the squids are physically unable to ride.


This is also why its pretty much our duty to at least try to be decent role models on bikes. Always gear up, obey most laws (no one is perfect), and do everything you can to practice what you preach. There are too many horrible riders out there that give us all a bad name, and we need a few to try to keep ourselves in a mostly positive light. Also, you never know... Maybe someone sees you all geared out, thinks its kinda cool that you have some nice *** mesh jacket, and ends up buying some new gear.... Even the slightest positive influence is a great thing to the motorcyling society as a whole.

 

i agree with everyone. damn squids. tonight i was out riding with a buddy of mine and my gf. we went to a denny's to meet one of my friends who was riding with some other people. so we pull up to dennys and nothing but gsxr's that are all beatin to hell and we walk inside and i don't see anyone that would look like they are on a bike. most of these dudes aren't wearing nothin but tshirts and jeans, some have helmets. definately no jackets. well one guy had on a vest over his white t. there was bout 10-12 of em. they were the type that like to look cool on a bike rather than have a passion for riding and understanding what its all about. i definately don't wanna ride with that group while they do wheelies on the freeway and stupis s--t like that. all they talk about is the wheelie the rode and how great of a rider they are and blah blah blah. too really top it off this girl comes out to talk to this guy on his gixxer!! he only has a helmet on and looked like some cloth work gloves or somethin and a backpack. this girl had on her skimpy outfit cause she was at the club and was with them wearin her capri pants, heels, little shirt and purse. this jerkoff lets her get on the back of the bike dressed like that!!!! no helmet or anything and they were gettin on the freeway. these damn idiots **** me off. he is a complete dumbass for lettin her get on the back of his bike like that and both of them are ignorant of all the consequences if they should go down. what the hell is up with these suzuki gsxr people any damn way???
