Default Went to look at bikes today.

I am completely bored with my f4i so I am looking for a new toy. I saw sick deals on 2011 600rr's and 1000rr's at $9600 and $10900 respectively. So I went to the dealer and checked them out. I have to say I love the 1000rr's so I went home to check insurance prices and was blown away. They want $5700 a year for me. 19 no accidents or tickets, and Ive had this company for 2 years and pay $280 for the F4i. So needless to say that is off my list. I really want to see a 250 in person and wouldn't mind seeing a motard up close either but the salesmen said it would be a complete dog with me on it(I'm a big dude).

Geez & I thought $600 quote for my new bike was harsh, managed to get it down to $575 by opting for $1000 excess. Next time you see some one riding without gear, popping mono's, speeding through suburbia & generally behaving like a dick. Remember to pull up & say thanks, because if it weren't for them you would probably only have to pay a couple hundred bucks.

Give State Farm a call. They rate bikes by engine size, not hp, top speed or anything else. And tell them it is 999cc, not 1000. Might save a few bucks. The specs actually say 999cc in my service manual.

Hey, did you go to Sport Honda in Metuchen? Those guys are some hard ballers when it comes to haggling over price, but they're full of it with most of their gimmicks. I was gonna buy an '09 leftover last year, had the loan approval, and was about to sign on the line if they had just dropped $500 more from what they offered and I ended up just walking out. Lo' and behold the sales guy calls me a week later probing to see how far along I was with finding a bike... unfortunately for him I had found a good deal on a used RC51.

+1 to what RoadiJeff said. Call around for quotes and tell them it is a 999cc and leave it at that. You might luck out and avoid the special classification for liter bikes. I will add that being 19 you will pay through the **** no matter what NEW bike you get.

Did you check a 2008 1000RR? It looks the same (apart from color schemes). Perhaps the insurance will be lower on one.

I understand that if you are bored on the F4i you would look at a literbike or motard.. but a 250??!?!

Interesting. did not know this. I have StateFarm though. They are by far the best price / coverage for that price I've ever found.

Ill check out state farm. the reason I want a new bike is so It will be quiet, have the stock head lights and be new enough where I can put tons of miles on it. I really want 80 mpg and it seems like so much fun!

I went with Direct for insurance. Progressive wanted about 400 a month and I have a beyond perfect driving record, female over 30. Direct is about 38 a month for me
