Just picked up this beauty for $44 on ebay with minor scrapes, what a deal!

I've heard that its a bad idea to buy used helmets since after even a small drop they can become useless.

Sorry to ruin your day but I would be a little concerned about a $44 helmet off ebay with scrapes.

The way I understand it is that the foam inside a helmet becomes suspect after even a mild shock (you can buy a helmet shock sensor cheap) to it. My guess is it is probably fine if you don't see cracks (look really good, but you can only see a small % of it)in the polystyrene foam, but then again don't go by me, I'd only buy a new helmet from a real shop that I drive to and take that bitch out of the box with my own two hands. $348 RF1000 Camber from the Helmet Shop in Daytona. New Helmets and New Condoms, that is my motto.
