So I go into a VZW store to check if they're willing to leak the Thunderbolt release date and pick up some accessories. And the sales guy dragged me over to the Motorola Xoom. Seeing as how I only glimpse the iPad when it's in my girlfriend's hands (usually playing Farmville or Smurfville), he talked me into buying a Xoom. I likes it!

As we're checking out, however, the guy goes "You know the iPad 2 comes out this Friday?". Yuen's eyes light up like a Christmas tree and she begins drooling on the counter. Luckily I have a defense: Can't afford it this month after this purchase. Sales guy's response:

No problem! I'll just put in on your bill and you can pick it up on Friday!

Huh?!? WTF? I ask for this service on phones and get told . So I say "WTF?!? I ask for this on phones and get told :icon_laugh"! He gives an evil chuckle and says "I'm the store manager. You can pick it up after 5pm and since your bill has already generated it won't be on there till April 28th. I'm now bleeding profusely from my girlfriend's claws digging in my arm.

Friday I have to go back to the VZW store after 5pm

 

So he put the phone on your bill? Should have told the ol lady no.

I have an X but want LTE. But now prolly not since the Xoom will have LTE and my phone can go back to being a phone.

I'm just not happy bout dropping a stack in 1 day at VZW

 

I wouldnt be either. my deposit fee was outragous along with phone fee.

 

Back from the Verizon store. It was a funny experience.
First, I had to drive past an Apple store. The line was wrapped around the building. The VZW store? Only myself and 1 other guy were picking up iPad 2s.

Nobody in the store knew how to activate nor set them up. The 2 store managers were assisting us and they were both reading off of photocopied How To Powerpoint presentations.

Strangely, my Xoom dropped it's 3G connection and refused to reacquire it. Everyone in the store was mystified. And when they activated the iPad, it mysteriously turned back on.

The other guy buying an iPad 2 demanded to know why I was able to have it billed to me while he needed cash.

I went there straight after work so I was still in my Comcast / Xfinity uniform. That drew several stares and a couple questions I had to deflect... for the sake of being civil

They didn't get any 16 GB iPad 2s. But since I was promised one by someone high up, they gave me a 32 GB one for the same price
