It can be viewed as "drag racing". The officer (unless sees you from the start) doesnt know if you're speeding up "to speed" or just to "get up to speed". Its more of how you get up to speed that will decide if the cop will pull you over.

If you're entering a road (say 50 mph) from a driveway, then I'd say its ok, AS long as you're not being stupid.

Now if you're at a stop sign or red light and you take off fast then a cop can easily pull you over for over accelerating.
Wouldn't you need to have another car or bike with you during the speed to be considered "drag racing"?

Nope. You can be racing yourself or the cop could say you were racing the person next to you.

Yourself, cause you're racing yourself.

Exhabition of acceleration

Most states can nail you on it.
This is correct. Although rare an officer can pull you over and cited you for it. There is no line drawn as it is left up to officer discretion. [&:]

In ohio, Drag Racing = 6 points on the license.

In comparison, Vehicular Homicide = 6 points on the license.

^ You mean you wont be going any faster than 30? Because Im sure you could get written up for that, I just cant think of what the ticket would be for (but I know you could get ticketed for it)

and any sort of spirited driving/aggressive riding can be considered exhibition driving, but Ive honestly never heard of anyone getting a ticket for it... Ive only heard the "it happened to a friend of a friend" ones.
