Upcoming Move
So I am moving soon (~ 100 miles). I can fit the CBR in the bed of my truck and I was considering putting the Zuke S40 on a trailer. However considering that getting the CBR in the bed is a PITA and I'd be looking at an extra ~$60 for the trailer...
Couldn't I just get a larger truck from UHaul (~ $20 more for the next size) and put the bikes in with everything else? I would assume we could pack it properly and be okay. I have some tarps and some sheets of plywood to act as buffers between the bikes and the other furniture.
Anybody have experience with this? I used an estimator to figure out how big of a truck I would need. So right now I think we are looking at a 20' truck. The 26' truck is only $14 more.

Whenever I've moved myself w/a U-haul truck/trailer, I always needed WAAAY more room than their estimator said. Guess I'm not a very good/tight furniture packer.
Anyway, what you're describing can work, just be _sure_ you have that bike strapped down _tight_ and in both directions (fore-aft + side-side). If the truck you rent doesn't have metal rails and/or rings on the sides and/or floor that you can strap to, then I personally wouldn't do it. Also think about furniture or other things falling down off the stack and smashing into the bike.

+1 what is it an hour and a half ride? move all your stuff and have someone bring you back to get your bike and just ride it there. Save yourself some money and get in some riding time.

I would totally do that but I have two bikes to move. I suppose I could get somebody else to ride the other one for me. Definitely an option.
I plan to stop by the UHaul and ask if I can see the inside. IIRC they do have cargo hooks in the floor. I have plenty of ratchet straps so that isn't an issue.
Just was curious if anybody else had experience doing so. Trying to make this move as cheap as possible since it is a job transition and money may be tight for a couple weeks.
At least the bike insurance is paid up
