Default Trucks

I had a 2000 chevy truck. I put 165,000 miles on it and the transmission went out!!! I know what your thinking.... How could this happen Rod? The truck was barely broke in at 165,000!!! I thought the same thing but it happened!!! So I wound up buying a used 2005 chevy to get me around while I fix and sell the old one... Anyway, here's a pic of the new ride:

165k and your saying its just getting broken in? Sorry man but that gasser is definately at 3/4 of its life. I think the tranny made a good run. The only thing just getting broken in at that many miles is a Cummins and unfortunately thats sitting in a Dodge thats probably falling apart all around it.

I have no idea what tranny is in the old one. I havn't touched it yet....I had to solve my transportation problem first.... now that that is done.... I think I'll just pay someone to fix the old one.....lol
DDcavi, I was just messing around about the miles. I do know people who put way more than that on one but with most 4x4s thats not a bad run...

Good lookin trucks fella's

I would say all of the 3 light duty diesels are just getting broken in at 165 (Cummins, PowerStroke, Duramax).

Transmissions are always the weekspots from what I read, with the exception of the duramax/allison combo.

I can tell you this, it took me forever to find my F350 because there weren't many white 7.3PSD duallys with full lariat, 4WD, Full 4-door, AND 6-SPEED manual - but I had to have that manual because everyone will tell you that half the problem with the LD diesels are transmission related.

I would agree, but out of the three Cummins is proven to be the most reliable and easiest to work on. Id also say its more HD and the other two are LD The DMAX and Alison are a great couple but just like any other tranny when you add ANY significant power to it, the days are numbered.

Im a full blown GM guy but if my pockets didnt have a bottom, Id put a Cummins into either a 2500HD or an 08 Super Duty.

I am not sure anyone would argue that unless they had a chip on their shoulder.

Will admit that I like the new dodge dually's a LOT, and would have bought one if I had the cash, but I went for the tried and true 7.3 with no regrets.
