It might depend on the insurance company and exactly what coverage you have. I had snowmobile get totalled a while back. State Farm payed what the bluebook value was. It was about a month long after the accident when I got the check.

Make sure you let them know what extra's you had on the bike. You wont get anywhere near what the cost of the extra's were, but you might get a percentage of them. Also, make sure if your helmet was damaged, you include that in the claim. If its a law in your state to wear one and you were wearing it, they will cover it. Jackets and other gear on the other hand generally wont be covered as its not a law to have it.

Thanks for the info squid, i am also with state farm so hopefully it will work out all right.

as for what happened, i was riding my favorite local twisty's. the ride was going great, had my knee down in several corners but after reaching my destination decided to go little futher into the mountains and check the roads out. at this point we slowed down to check the road conditions along the way. the roads were actually pretty clean but while rounding a left hand corner i ran into some sand the sweeper truck missed and the front end washed out on me. the bike struck several large rocks on its way to the river as i slid behind it. i am fine (had full leathers on) the bike is not so fine.

Ouch, sorry to hear about that man... I can imagine you are pretty shaken up, I had a similar drop but luckily I didnt have that much damage to my bike. I was coming around a curve back in february the road was fine until I cam around this one and the road was still covered in a light snow.... I went down at 40 and my bike slid about 100-150 ft. You have any pictures of the area you went down?

Ouch, glad you're ok......... It seems you never get as good of a settlement from your own insurance company as you would from someone elses (like if you were hit) I hope it works out for you.........
