Nick,
You would be sorely missed on the forum. I would say, get the ring...keep the bike...and wait on the truck. Break even if you have to because you will miss the bike like nobody's business. Good luck on your decision. Anyway it turns out, it will be the right decision...

Let me give you some advice on buying a diamond.
1. Don't buy a ring at a store at the mall. They jack up their prices to help pay for their outrageous leases.
2. Buy a loose diamond and have it set. You will be able to look closer at the quality of the diamond if it's not already set. So, say you buy a $3500 loose diamond... it should only cost you about $100 more to have it set in a band. Disregard this advice if your girl wants a name-brand ring such as Tiffany's or Tacori.
3. ONLY buy a diamond that comes with a detailed certificate from a reputable gem lab, e.g., GIA, EGL, etc...
4. Buy a diamond that has a serial number lasered into the girdle. <---- great for re-sale value and insurance purposes.

There's a ton more I could put, but I don't want to bore you. Just do your homework so you find the best deal. I went to stores and looked at loose diamonds, I would write down all the specs (color, cut, clarity, and carat weight), then I would go to www.bluenile.com and compare prices. Blue Nile has VERY realistic prices. Good luck, and how much you selling the Telefonica for?

Dude, I've got my X-Fiances ring still. It's REALLY nice, and I'd let it go for CHEAP (like $2000 cheap). It's a certified diamond with the band wrapped in pa-vay (or however it's spelled) diamonds.

Oh, but it's a size 4.5 (i think...maybe 4?) She was a small girl like 110 pounds. I say was because I just saw her (it's been about a year) and she EASILY gained 25 pounds.[:'(]I'm glad I left her when I did. It would've sucked BIG TIME had I married her, and then she turned into a balloon.

I think you would miss your bikes........(and the gas miles they would get versus a 4x4 truck.)

But, it all depends on how much you ride (I put on a 1000 miles a month minimum, and would be suicidal if I got rid of her.)

But, let me get this straight. You BOUGHT HER an engagement RR , and now she wants a RING too? Sometimes I just don't understand the logic behind a female's thinking. Ring, RR, ring, RR.........it's a no braineRR!

tell her to stop being materialistic and that she only needs your love and not a ring... then change the subject so she wont have time to bring up the bike being materialistic haha.

ITs really sweet that you are thinking about your girl. I have been with my bf for 5 years and he hasn't even thought about buyin me a ring. I would never be the wife that would make him stop buyin cool ****, he knows that...

So I really think what you are wanting to do is awesome...good luck and I hope that later on when you get settled you can get back on a bike again.

You should keep at least one bike.
