Default Thanks a lot, Speed & *** Communications!!

So here comes the first round of WSB this weekend, and after having struggles at all previous tests, developing the new Ducati, my man Carlos Checca has topped the sheets at the final test, at Phillip Island... but, thanks to the changes at Speed, and my cable carrier, which is ***, I will NOT be able to see the season's races!!

It's bad enough that Speed has that stupid Speed 2 channel, which is internet-based, yet requires your ISP to be "on board", in order for you to see it... and *** does NOT provide this service. Now, I only call it stupid because it requires cooperation with your ISP - I really want to see some of the additional coverage on this channel, and think it should be an easily accessed site, without complications.

*** also does not provide access to the network that WSB and WSS will be aired on ... I need a new "buddy" in Wichita, with DVR service through DirectTV or Dish Network, to record this stuff, and bring that thing over to my house, so we can watch it on my 52" tv!!

Then of course, we have AMA Pro Racing - the 1st round at Daytona is airing on Speed, because it was already agreed to last year, but they still don't have things ironed out for the remainder of the season!

Thanks Speed, and ***, for making sure that the American public has to struggle to watch cool racing (Isle of Man TT coverage, FIM Speedway Grand Prix, WSB/WSS, AMA Pro Racing, and MotoGP), and can only be guaranteed access to stinking NASCAR!!

At least you can still watch Pawn stars, Honey boo boo, and the kardashians... 24/7 on 8 different channels, in HD.

Count your blessings!

Call them and complain. Make them give you free movie channels and such.
Can you cancel your service and go with someone else? I can't believe *** is the only provider there.

I am only one voice, but I have complained to ***, regarding Speed2, and since I once worked for the company, I am 99% certain that they could care less, as long as NASCAR and UFC stuff is avaialable, they think things are fine.

As far as switching services, at this time, I'm not even considering it, but I wish I didn't have to consider it... I really don't want to go through the headache of switching to satellite, just for access to a race series, but it is important to me, and if I knew 100% that the satellite services would be reliable, I probably would. The problem there, is that my girl and I own the house together, and I'm not sure if items she's interested in would be affected or not.

Anyway, it's just a rant, and I'm not expecting anyone to have a solution for me, I'm just venting!

What I really wish, and I'm not sure where things are going for 2013, regarding Fox, Speed, NASCAR broadcasts, etc., but it would be fantastic, if it would be feasible for NASCAR to have their own dedicated channel, and if two-wheeled motorsports had something like that as well. I can't tell you how many times that a NASCAR race went long, with their ridiculously long after-race stuff, and instead of scheduling a MotoGP or WSB/WSS race where it would follow an event that wasn't live, they many times put them after the NASCAR live event, which cut into anywhere from 50% to 75% of the motorcylcle race, if not the entire thing... and of course, most of the time this happened, wass when they would NOT have a re-airing of the motorcycle race at a later date/time.

Speed was originally designed to be all motorsports. At first, they showed all kinds or racing stuff and races. Remember they used to show WRC? Then NASCAR took over with all kinds of talk shows and garbage. Then when interest declined, they put on rerun reality shows so we can watch people fight while "building" a bike/car/whatever. Put in auto auctions and fake repair shows, you have the current channel. It's about marketing to the masses, not racing. I guess they know that people that care about OTN (other than NASCAR) racing, don't spend much time in front of the TV watching the rest of the crap. We'd rather be out riding and getting our hands dirty!

All true... I miss the way it was in the beginning, and I as well, loathe the (Un)reality shows that are plaguing ALL networks, and further rotting the minds of already...well, you know... people!

Speed is almost wholly devoted to NASCAR, without a doubt, but if a dedicated racing channel really did show only racing, or at least racing-related programs, and none of the stupid "drivel", I think it would be easily feasible to get everything aired, without issue, but "what could be" and "what is" are on opposite sides of the universe!

Maybe with the changes regarding Fox and Speed, things will improve, but I won't be holding my breath.
I'm just sad that there's racing THIS Sunday, that I will miss, after waiting so long for the season to begin again.
