Congrats! I say pay off some debt and put the rest in an IRA and forget about it. Let your kid pay for his own college. My parents made me pay for mine, and it helped me get better grades and appreciate it more.
Get a good investment with an average return of 10% and that money will be huge in 10 years.

As another who makes a portion of my income as bonusses, watch out for the tax man.

Put the money asside and once you work out the taxes etc, do something with it.

Lumps sums are rare, and obviously are awesome. Vacation fund perhaps, track riding school,
a week of trackdays ?? Do something you couldn't otherwise do, I always put a lump aside
for my neices college fund ( something I can't always do, but when I can, I do)

Good luck, and enjoy...!

Everybody wants to help out their kids, but I think this is a good point, especially if you're behind on your retirement planning. Fund your retirement first, then your kids' school, because it's a lot easier to get a student loan than a retirement loan!

And congratulations on a job well-done, and being rewarded for it.

nice! at my work instead of a 3% cost of living raise for everyone, they just gave usa 5% bonus. was sweet, instead of getting a little extra each pay period, we got a lump sum, allowing us to actually use it for something.

just dont go spending it all in one place.
