The SUPERSLAB...
It does take a while to get use to the hwy, but i've found that i feel safer there than on back-streets. SO much more to look out for than on the hwy. Seems a little easier to predict what the cagers are gonna do, or at least what their car is capable of letting them do. My pointer would be to look further down the road than you normally do. Always seems to be the idoit 4-5 cars up actin a fool that gets the ugliness started, then e/one over-reacts n things get interesting !! Not condoning speeding either, but i always feel a lil safer passing than being passed, or havin some goober ridin my @ss !!
My first time out on the freeway wasnt too bad. just cruised at around 70mph and had a friend following in his car. Took it slow, didnt have much traffic to deal with, not much wind either.
As for hairy times on the freeway, ive had a few. When the Santa Ana's start kicking up in southern california you can get 40-50 mph gusts. I find myself dancing all over my lane leaning into the winds momentarily. You get used to it, but it is a bit unnerving.

I'm glad to hear that it is a nerve racking experience the first few times out. I've actually been on the freeway with two buddies before. We were taking the backroads and we got to a spot in the road that said "loose gravel/fresh oil". They asked if I was okay to get on the highway, and I said yes, but secretly there was blood dripping from my canal. Fortunately, it was only one exit...not too bad.
haha, chumps....I had to ride on the freeway to get my bike home from the guys house that we bought it from. try having little experience on a bike, fresh from the msf course that week, and taking your new bike home, and then get on the highway....HOLY SH@T.
